The new car's steering has more feedback due to the suspension change, although it may be a little too much feedback for some.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

is the power difference really even noticeable compared to prior years? Taking into account that the more aggressive exhaust sound of the '02's can make a car SEEM faster...
Also, how about the suspension improvements, something you can really feel in the seat of your pants or just marketing hype?
Just curious.
Hi, I've had my 2002 C2 coupe for about 3 weeks now. I had a 2001 C2 coupe just prior to that. I can say that there is a pretty dramatic difference in torque and suspension feel. You notice it right away. When I test drove an '02, I was surprised at the difference.
Engine: The car pulls much stronger, especially in everyday street use and in the under 4k rpm range. I notice it especially in 2nd gear acceleration. It feels faster than the extra 20hp would suggest. I don't have any track experience with the car, so I can't comment on that.
Suspension: Both of my cars had/have the base suspension. The new car has a firmer, more controlled feel. The old car I thought had a slightly "floaty" feel. Both of my cars had/have the 18" wheels. The new car's steering has more feedback due to the suspension change, although it may be a little too much feedback for some. The ride is slightly harsher, but not at all bad. The 18" wheels on the new car are a little wider in the back (285mm vs. 265mm I think), and that contributes to a little more "tramlining" in grooved payment.
Clutch: The clutch on the new car is much easier to engage without chatter and without stalling. It just feels better.
So far, I've driven a total of three 2002 cars (one being a C4 cab). They all had similar feel. On the whole, I
realy
like the new car, and think it is a great improvement.

My thoughts are exactly the same as Ray G's. I've had an '02 cabriolet for about four weeks, having previously ownned a '99 996. The ride is definently firmer (you feel every expansion joint in the road) and the car has a lot more torque when passing generally and especially at highway speeds. I, too, found the clutch easier to engage. The stereo is much improved on the advanced technics packagage, and the glass rear window on the cab is a godsend.
Ray:
Just to be correct, the MY2002 with 18" wheels has 8x18J WO-50 front wheels and 10Jx18 WO-65 rear wheels with 225/40-18 front tyres and 285/30-18 rear tyres. The MY2001 and before had 7.5x18J WO-50 front wheels and 10Jx18 WO-65 rear wheels with 225/40-18 front tyres and 265/35-18 rear tyres. The optional 8" wide front wheels had a WO-52.
