I'd go with APOLO's opinion on the GTS over mine as my experience was limited to one test drive on the motorway on a freezing cold day in January with a couple of shivering kids in the back.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Just put the deposit down this morning for one. Exciting times, as would be my first 'new' Porsche (albeit wife has previously had a new Boxster 'S' & myself a 12 month old 997 4 GTS).
Probably quite a way off yet, but with things being as they are at the moment then its something to look forward to.
Was torn between a used 991.2 4 GTS or the new 992 4 GTS, but decided on the latter in the end as financially there is not a massive difference, and well having one build to our own (I say 'our' as will likely be mainly the wife's car as I plan on keeping the E-Tron) just swayed me.
Seen a few spy shots appears, so now have to start considering colours, spec, etc.
Am tempted with Jet Green if PTS is available, but wife is edging towards Black or Gentian Blue.
I'm sure the next few months will be interesting.
Targa 4 Gts is a fantastic daily fun car, I had 2 of the last 991.2s did just over 35k miles in them. Looking forward to the same in 992 around Q3 otr.

Didn't want a full on convertible, but liked the idea of a bit of open air motoring at times.
Quarter 3 you reckon ? That would be good. In time for August would be awesome as if we are allowed to travel again I may take it down to the Dordogne for a road trip with my son, whilst the female members of the family fly down.

I had the full Cab in 992 for 16 months, great car . But just something about the Targas think they look great, I drove mine down to Spain and back many times. My understanding is that the Gts is out before q3, but will be q3 for on the road for targa.Worth waiting for the Gts in my opinion as the extra bhp helps with the weight due to roof tech.

What were your thoughts on driving with the targa panel down ? By that I mean at what speeds does it become a pain ?
A lot of reviews say sub 50mph is fine, but above that the wind causes issues.

The 992 cab with the wind deflector up was not loud from a wind noise point even at 70 plus you can still hold a conversation. In the 991.2 targa it is louder at all speeds but provided you engage the deflection bar that sits on top of the screen it was never a problem that I found annoying, even on really long trips.

Gentian Blue would look great with GTS.

I test drove a 991.2 targa at motorway speeds and the turbulence and buffeting was close to being unbearable especially for the kids in the back seats. I bought a 992 Cabrio instead which is much better in this regard.
Personally i'd never buy a Targa over the Cabrio. Reasons are when the roof is down a full Cabrio offers a superior experience. The Cabrio's roof can be operated at speeds up to 35mph where the Targa needs to be at standstill. However the main reason is the Targa which only comes in 4WD weighs 90kg more than a RWD cabrio.
I think the reason Porsche only makes the Targa in 4WD is because the extra 50Kg for the 4WD gubbins at the very front of the car is needed to balance out the heavy Targa roof mechanism.
That's for the feedback both of you, albeit conducting so doesnt massively help
I'm just not a 'cabriolet' person, but like the idea of a bit of open top motoring, hence the targa.
Being able to open and close the roof on the move is not a concern. Wind noise is slightly. I assume dropping the windows gets rid of it completely ?
I thinks it's going to be a case of just knowing I'd like one and therefore likely living with the certain issues which it has. If that makes sense ...

I've a 992 targa the windnoise even at motorway speed is fine with the windscreen spoiler up. Also happens to be the best looking of all 911s. The GTS will be fantastic go for it.

What timeline have they given you for allocation and delivery, taking into consideration the car hasn't even been formally announced yet by Porsche?
Thanks.

I think you should have ago in one your self, after all we all like different things I certainly on trips down to Marbella did not find the wind noise as above yes lowing the windows does help with this. I actually found the extra weight and 4 x4 made it more planted on road and track. The main part that sets the cars apart is the scuttle shake the Targas have almost none, the 992 Cabs are 37% less rigid than the coupes you can feel this. Having done 22k miles in 992 C2s Cab and over 35k in Targas would take the targa any day as a daily. Will be replacing my 992 Turbo S with a 992 Targa 4GTS as a UK daily car.

They havent as say they unable to due to it not existing as yet. They hinted likely second half of the year which ties in with what Apollo said of 3rd quarter.

To be truthful i'm not a a 911 Targa or Cabrio guy or even into 4WD 911s..The 992GTS i'll be getting will be a 2WD Manual RAS Coupe with no sunroof. I simply cannot comprehend any Porsche 911 which weighs over 1.5T but that's just my personal view.

Fingers crossed.
If it is true I'll be able to sit it in with the roof down, in the driveway because we'll likely still be in god damn lockdown.
Long way off yet, but starting to look at potential colours. The obvious ones are black or carmine red but wanted something a little different.
How just come across this, amethyst;
Forrest green was another consideration;
No doubt will end up black .....

A Targe deserves a bold colour the “targa hoop” and roof break up the colour so you can get away with it more than on a coupe IMHO. Forest or Jet Green....or any of the dark green’s would look fantastic.

Morning Buddy,
Also think theses greens would look good on the 992 GT3 .
What was the Jaguar Green, "Racing Green" ?, maybe

Black does look good though.
Just not with those alloys ...
As mentioned, I suspect black is the way it will end up going. Its then just a decision as to whether to go full on black, ie black hoop and alloys, or whether to go silver hoop and alloys to break it up a bit.
Head says latter, heart says former.

Personally, not keen on the silver hoop with black wheels (no offence meant).
Where do you think the prices of these will be? Local OPC will take my deposit for one now and confirmed same timeframe of March announcement and July delivery, but i’m trying to work out what these will be in terms of premium over Carrera S.
I’ll likely go for the GTS if I keep being told no for a Cayman GT4, not as good a track weapon but probably better all rounder i suppose.

I'd hazard a guess around 120k list, so around 25k more than a coupe 's'

For the Coupe? 991.2 GTS was under £100k, so that would be a stretch. what are you expecting for your Targa?
My black one above March 17, was 128k, Same spec in 992 I would think around 15k more.
Jefferson Steelflex said:

I'd be gets coupe to be arou d 105k, 4GTS coupe to be around 110k and 4GTS targa to be around 120k, pre options.
If anyone’s planning on px’ing their 991.2 Targa GTS or S for a 992 Targa please pm me before accepting a dealer offer.
I just missed out on 15k mile 991.2 Targa 4S with a great spec that was up for £75k from a private seller buying a 992. I guess OPC offered c£70k as px?
Slighted annoying, and off topic, whilst waiting for the 992 Targa I was looking at purchasing a 4GTS Coupe as a 'fill in'. I put an offer in on one around 6.30pm yesterday at JZM (by email) and then chased them at 2pm today to be told they had sold it to someone else. Not even a call about it last night, after a number of emails between us up to 5.05pm prior to me putting forward the offer.

To be fair they had gone home by then and, I am guessing, your offer was not the asking price and they had a better one in the wings. And dealers are often wary of email dealings - too many tyre kickers.
Still annoying when a good one gets away though. Good luck with the hunt.

Appreciated they had gone home, but managed to sell to a.n other despite that fact.
Re price, my offee was around 2k under asking and was done by email as had sent them some other info.
Just annoys me I didnt even get a call pr email until I chased them up and the reply came it had been sold to a 'longstanding client'. I dont profess to be a previous client of theirs, never mind a long standing one, but I do know that at the start of any longstanding relationship there would have been an initial purchase/sale.
Anyway.... lifes too short and there are other cars out there.
My dealer is just saying that until its officially announced they cannot advise anything as don't know anything themselves.
I do however half get the feeling it will be very late this year for initial deliveries or early 2021, hence my post few back about looking to purchase something in the interim.
Aaron-vuxdh said:
I've been told all Targa 992 GTS have been delayed until January 2022... anyone else had the same message or is my dealer being daft?
Do you know if that’s for all the 992 Gts range,or just the targa?
A colleague of mine based in Germany has been told his GTS Targa will likely be delivered in October. His understanding is that he will be one of the first in line with his dealership. Perhaps an indication that late 2021 / early 2022 for UK cars sounds about right.
Hopefully their will be some news on this soon, as pictures been doing the rounds for some time now and April seems to be the date people are banding around for official release.
In the meantime, bought myself a 991.2 Carerra 4 GTS (coupe), in Crayon. Lovely car (low mileage, original owner + me), alcantara, centre locks, etc, ie the things every GTS should have IMO.

It wouldn't surprise me at all, hence buying the car I have, as got the feeling 3rd quarter delivery was unlikely.
Who knows though....
Bear in mind, UK cars with effect from 2022 will (or may?) have mandatory fitment of speed control systems.
I can't find anything in the media more recent than the two or three year old reports, to say (the EU imposed) plans have been shelved .
Well April has nearly been and gone, and no announcement. The changes of getting a Targa this year are I suspect nigh on zero.
Enjoying the 4GTS in the meantime, so not the end of the world.
I heard from my OPC last week that GTS is on hold as they failed the emission tests, so currently can't be released till further in the year until a new software package is developed.

My 991.2 4GTS is in for warranty work soon too- failed PADM, seems like a common fault by all accounts.
The car is still driveable. Anyone else had the same?

Yes,had one go on my gt3 and then a few weeks later the other one went ,covered under warranty so make sure you have an extended warranty .

Had confirmation by my dealer of the 23rd June for the GTS release, I've also seen others have had the same confirmation today from their dealership.
Been told same also, I hope the Targa is included and not just the cabs and coupe.
Anyone have any indication as to when there is likely to be physical GTS car/s at dealers to view ?
Also, when are dealers likely to be confirming build slots ?

I know what you mean about silver hoop, it makes the car. But sadly it’s not an option on the 992 GTS Targa.

Black, Turbo S Wheels, CCBDs, 18 ways, Black and Sliver leather, RWS, PDK and a few other bits, Oct build.

Does Oct build mean your car is being delivered for then, or it's going in to be built in Oct and then delivery a couple of months later?

Completion date is showing as 22 Oct, so if no delays would hope to see it some time in Nov.

Initially about this time last year, but was only to spec it the other week when the GTS range was announced.
Gts cab,
Had deposit down for Carreras S,and switched it.
Been told early 2022.
Crayon with gts interior.
Would have specked the buckets ,but they are not available on cab.
Anyone has any thoughts on the roof stripe? Quite fancy it.
