Suggestion

the service staff at my local dealer advise against changing to brighter and hotter light bulbs because Cayman uses plastic light set that can melt under high temperature.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

any recommendation on what bulb to use for cayman's low beam? H7, 55W bulb. I heard silverstar is cheap and bright, and then there are PIAAs which cost twice as much. the service staff at my local dealer advise against changing to brighter and hotter light bulbs because Cayman uses plastic light set that can melt under high temperature.

POST 2Original post

Go to Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply and read about bulb myths. For normal wattage, the +50s are the best - Phillips Visionplus, Osram Silverstar (not the stuff sold in the US) and Narva. Note that +50 is not the same things as companies like PIAA advertise like getting 110w from 55w of power. Last time I checked, the laws of physics still apply. Here are some sources or you can email the danielstern website and they can get whatever you need: suvlights.com PHILIPS- VisionPlus +50%- Pair H1, H3, H7, 9003/H4, 9004/HB1, 9005/HB3, 9006/HB4 Car Bulbs from Power Bulbs - upgrade xenon car bulbs, headlight bulbs, autobulbs and autolamps from Philips, Osram and GE
