Thanks Mooty, the sound went away so I'm thinking we could have just over tightened the top nut.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

PSS9 coilovers installed, squeaking noise when turning steering wheel, help! Hey guys/gals, I just installed a set of PSS9 coilovers in the Cayman. Install was fine, I switched out a set of Techart springs for the PSS9, no major issues. However, during the test drive, I noticed a very prominent squeaking noise whenever I turn the steering wheel (both directions). The sound seems to be coming from the top of the coilover where the stock spring cups are, and sounds similar to ungreased polyurethane bushings or rubber on rubber contact. Visually everything looks ok, so I'm not sure if this is a PSS9 specific issue or not. Any ideas? Thanks DL

POST 2Original post

who installed it? do you have thrust bearing installed? that will solve the prob

POST 3Original post

did u have pasm ?? did u order the right pss9 with or without psam ? btw... whats ur setting ? i'll be installing my pss9 next week... and i'm swithing out from techart spring too.. lol

POST 4Original post

Thanks Mooty, the sound went away so I'm thinking we could have just over tightened the top nut. I'm looking into it. Statix: I don't have PASM on my car. Currently I'm running setting "4" on the PSS9 front and rear. Subjectively, I would say this is slightly stiffer than the Techart springs with stock non-pasm shocks, although it really is a different kind of "stiff"... You do feel the road more, but overall the ride is more controlled.

POST 5Original post

Why do you switch from Techart springs? What's bad about them?

POST 6Original post

Mooty, I am having clanking noises frmo my PSS9 rear strut when I go over some bumps (but not all). Mine was installed at Imagine Auto in KC who also installed K-Man Ss (though his is a PSS9 Damptronic since he has PASM. We both have the clanking sound. Might there be something to tight or too loose, or some bushing, or something, left out in these installs that causes the clanking? Both seem worse on the passenger (right) side rear strut (though sometimes on the left too. I called a voulme PSS9 dealer who said there should be no problems if properly installed. Thanks, Charles
