Does anyone know of any company that makes Titanium exhaust tips? Planning on getting an exhaust for the CS soon, but not liking any of the tips out there.
Tks
Tips --
Cross, a Japanese company, see ads in Excellence magazine. As a former owner of a GT3 with an all-Ti exhaust, I have to ask -- why? The metal is very soft and will bend easily, it's expensive, and you're not saving any appreciable weight unless you go for an all-Ti system.
Take a look at sponsor Boothe's tips and see if you like them better. Ti does nothing for you as DCLee explained.
Could be the looks that are enticing, and not necessarily the performance. The 'blued' look is neat imo. As for an all Ti exhaust, not sure about the easy to bend part. A lot of sport bikes are running Ti headers and cans for weight savings and I haven't heard of big problems with them. There are even bicycles with Ti frames and if they were that easy to bend, I can't see how they would be practical. Could be that wall thickness or the type of alloy had something to do with the bending that is mentioned? (turbine blades can be Ti, too)
Cayman S tip Prototype...
I dont like any tips out there either.
Metals a subject I know something about. We heat treat metals and Ti is not soft. Very thin pure Ti maybe soft because of the delta of strength vs cross section. 6Al4V Ti, most common, is harder and stronger than stainless steel. In section sizes used for exhaust tip, .060-.090"(my guess) Ti should be very tough and strong. Not sure what it will look like after oxidized though.
i cant wait, you seem to suprise me every time

Posts of the different tips with pics and links would be great. My wifes C needs some bad.
Looking for the Titanium exhaust tips for looks, not looking for weight saving. Just found on 6speedonline.com. JTC just introduced an exhaust system with Titanium tips! but I would think the price for the system would be over $2k. Waiting from Vivid RAcing about price.
