I have been experiencing a very weird problem lately with my auto-dimming mirrors. Sometimes the driver side mirror doesnt dim at all or dims very little. I know the system works coz the rear view mirror and the passenger side one work well. Sometimes when it does that, if I knock on it or load the spring just a little but and release it to give it a little bump it works again.
Any idea what might be causing this?? I'm out of town and cant really visit the dealer these days!
oh wow, that's a first and quite weird.
Keep us updated.
Sounds like an intermittent electrical connection to me...
First thing I'd check for is a loose connection. I believe you can "pop" the mirror out and check the connection. My .02.
Good luck!

First thing I'd check is your warranty status.
Any idea how I can "pop" it up?? I too think its a connection loose.
And luckily, I have just renewed my warranty
This article describes how to remove the mirror...

Personally, if it's under warranty, I'd get the dealer to do it.

I've had the opposite problem off and on
2008 CS--- I've had both outside mirrors go to full dim during daylight. As far as I can tell, the interior mirror is not dimmed.
This will last for awhile and then the mirrors will suddenly undim.
My side mirrors actually dim when I'm in my garage with the garage door open. The contrast of the shaded garage interior versus the very bright sun lit doorway is sufficient to activate the dimming feature. As soon as I back out though the dimming stops and all is normal. All that indicates is that it doesn't have to be headlights that cause them to activate but any particularly bright lighting, even sunshine compared to shade. I'm sure that's the normal operation and doesn't indicate anything wrong.
That was my initial thought as well--- sun low in the sky behind me, backing out of garage (although it's typically pitch black outside when I head out in the AM), etc. However, I've had a couple instances where it's been daytime and they've stayed dimmed for 15 minutes or so, despite driving various directions on different roads....
