Just received my 07 CS a week ago and am totally loving it, this forum has been incredibly helpful in getting up to speed with the car. Small problem with the front trunk release on drivers doorsill being inoperative- the key (but not the spare key) is the only way to open it. Doorsill switch opens rear trunk perfectly, but nothing on the front. Any one have experience with this? Assuming a solenoid somewhere has failed, but...?
Sounds like a problem that a dealer should be able to fix.
Hoping to avoid trip to dealer as closest is 6 hours away. Have a good independent shop 1 hour away, but wanted to give him a clue about where to start.
They are electric switches so I would start by testing the switch with a continuity tester and if it is bad then order the part and replace it, if not then probably best to let dealer take a crack at it.
now you say you can only open your front trunk via the key....but have you tried climbing into the front closing the lid and pulling on the emergency release handle? You know, just trying to check all areas....if you do try this make sure you have a cell phone handy and please record the call to
911
for future entertainment purposes only.
If the trunk releases with the key, I'd assume the solenoid is working fine. So then the issue could be with the doorsill switch. A digital multimeter should be able to confirm if it truely is dead. Check for continuity as K-Man suggests, and you can also check for voltage as you activate the switch.
Since everything on these silly cars is programmable, is it possible that there is a security mode enabled - sort of a valet mode?
Is there a
PIWIS
expert about?
It might be a longshot, but the remotes have to be linked back to the car if it hadn't been started or unlocked in 7 days. The car could have been sitting for a while before you got it. I'd would have thought that both remotes would work but use the spare when following the procedure under "Load switch off" in the manual.
I had to do it recently when the rocker panel switch didn't work when the battery died after two weeks of not driving. I don't remember if the key was in the locked or unlocked position when pushing button one.
My front boot switch failed. When the dealer replaced it the mechanic said...."I'd like to tell you that you have the only one of these I have seen....but we keep these in stock!"
Had mine replaced.Warranty,switch was bad....
