Suggestion

I'd start with checking the fluid level, and then get the fluid changed and the system bled to start with as this is relatively cheap.

There is a Porsche service bulletin that calls replacing the slave cylinder, I would not recommend your wife to keep driving the car until you get it fixed..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Wife has an '07 cayman s. Last few days she said she's had a very rough time getting it into or out of first and 2nd. Now she can't get into second, but can skip first to third. Also said once the clutch pedal never came back up from floor (pushed it down, and had to hook toe underneath and pull back up). Thoughts? is the clutch pedal to clutch fork a fluid connection or a linkage? Is there a reservoir I can check? open to thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Yes it's a fluid connection for the clutch system. The fluid for the clutch system is the same as that for the brakes, with the reservoir being located in the front trunk under a cover on the right towards the windscreen scuttle. I'd start with checking the fluid level, and then get the fluid changed and the system bled to start with as this is relatively cheap. In the end if the above does not solve it, you may be looking at some clutch repair work unfortunately.

POST 4Original post

Mike, There is a Porsche service bulletin that calls replacing the slave cylinder, I would not recommend your wife to keep driving the car until you get it fixed..

POST 5Original post

Thanks for info. Since posting, I got access to the car and checked. Goes in all gears fine when engine is off. Once on, won't go in R, 1st or 2nd. I'm guessing clutch is not fully releasing. Checked brake fluid level and it's at the max line. So no leak in the system. Maybe the slave cylinder issue. we'll see what dealer says. Then we'll see whether they charge or do it as a warranty item (car has 34K on it).
