Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The system works perfectly but controlling via the PCM can be a bit tricky to start with but you soon get the hang of it, can be used with most Ipods or any USB hard drive, to be honest I think I will just get a large pen drive and put all my music on that then I won't need to carry the ipod around

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having had my 2003 996 C4S for about 3 months I was staring to miss my tunes, my car has the 6 CD player but most of my music is MP3 these days (CD's a so last century) so started looking for an alternative. The two names that come up are the Dension and the Mobridge systems both will run an Ipod via the PCM and both cost around £550 fitted so not cheap. So needed a cheaper alternative, Ebay second hand dension was found, when I got it I thought it would be a simple task to get someone to fit it (first mistake) on one was interested one bloke said "on problem" but then rung back after getting a bollocking form his boss saying on that car with that system its always problematic and he couldn't fit it. So I had two options sell it on ebay or fit it myself, it has to be said that the instruction looked very vague but it still didn't look that difficult to install and if all else fails would just sell it and hope to get back what I paid for it . So have put together a step by step guide of how I fitted it, this is the way I did it and may not be the best, also I hold no respectability for any problems coursed by the following of this, it is to try and help other people in the same boat as me and demonstrate how simple it is to fit. The system works perfectly but controlling via the PCM can be a bit tricky to start with but you soon get the hang of it, can be used with most Ipods or any USB hard drive, to be honest I think I will just get a large pen drive and put all my music on that then I won't need to carry the ipod around Hope this helps Andy
