Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's surprising how many tiny spots on the paint which are still there after washing are not defects but just some stubborn muck - however these are then readily cleaned off with a bit of tar & bug remover.
Leading evidence: 'Clean off' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is '2000w of halogen light will be nice and 'warming'' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean /waxing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Yeah the garage is a bit nicer to work in now and I suspect the 2000W of halogen light will be nice and 'warming' when I pull the motor out of the car.

Have you tried various QD"s for a final spritz after cleaning/waxing?.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been meaning to put this web page up for a long time. It's a few pointers on paint detailing showing what can be achieved with before/after pics on my previous 996.
It's surprising what sort of improvements can be achieved if you take your time & figure it out.

Great stuff Wayne, very useful and reassuring that with the right knowledge its something many can do. I'm hoping to get a DA and have a go myself.
You did a great job on the garage makeover, I couldnt believe it when I saw it!
Thanks Chris,
I just updated it with some better pics to show the extent of defects on that engine cover as it puts the finished result in better perspective.

I'll update the page with some useful links over the weekend.
No worries. I can say for sure it's a lot nicer working on a sealed floor and the lighting makes a big difference. When it comes to dealing with the paint, there is definitely no need to have to put up with swirl marks - of course once yo ugo down that path, you'll be pretty particular about how your car gets washed in future.
I gave my silver car a 'spa' day on the weekend. It's surprising how many tiny spots on the paint which are still there after washing are not defects but just some stubborn muck - however these are then readily cleaned off with a bit of tar & bug remover. That stuff will remove wax though.
Awesome work Oz :worship:
You are becoming quite the 996 guru!
look forward to the latest exploits and loving the step by step walk throughs, definitely inspiring me to do more! :?:
Thanks Jester, I'm sure the guru reference is completely inaccurate though, I prefer to think of my exploits just as a means of becoming better informed about the car. Glad to hear about the inspiration though as that is definitely one of the purposes of the web site.
Cheers,
Wayne
Brilliant work Wayne. I'm into detailing myself and hopefully once I take delivery of my 911 I will make a start, albeit slowly.
I think I'll be painting the floor of my garage grey but the walls have to stay original, as per you know who !!! LOL
Agree the Menz range. Have you tried various QD"s for a final spritz after cleaning/waxing?. I'm presently using Zaino Z6, superb !!!
