Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

HI folks, quick question: I am fitting winter tyres to my spare wheels, which happen to be turbo wheels. I just wanted to confirm that you do not replace the valves on those (they are metal ones). Also, I weighed them (with tyres) against my C4S wheels. Although the tyre possibly make a small difference (not the same brand), the rear wheels of the turbo where almost 3.5Kg lighter! thanks

POST 2Original post

Porsche say you should replace each tyre change, but its not 100% essential everytime. There are 2 rubber sealing washers which harden and perish over time so its good practice. Let me know if you need any I can send some in the post. They are £30 for 4.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for the info OK, I'll probably replace them after the winter when I put the track tyres back on. When you say £30 for 4, is it £30 for a set of 4 wheels or a set of 4 washers (of which you would need 2). Also is it something that "standard" tyre fitters can do easily or is it somewhat more specialised? (in which case I might have to drive to you!) thanks again

POST 4Original post

Thats £30 for a set of 4 Porsche valves. They are not something your average tyre fitter will have in stock. They bolt in, you may find they are slightly corroded round the valve hole rather than the actual valve, this is where the corrosion can potentially upset the rubber seal.
