Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

So whilst I wouldn't say that it makes for quicker changes, I would recommend it.

Suggestion

I have the Porsche short shift on my 997 turbo and whilst it does make the gear changes much more positive, I do find that I have to be more deliberate than with the standard shift I had on the C2S.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

996 turbo Fit a Shortshifter Yes or No ??

POST 2Original post

Yes - lots of different types I have a B&M which has a 30% shorter throw.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Clive, did you spec that with the purchase or retro-fit?

POST 5Original post

It's not so much 'quicker' as more positive in feel and also gives a 'sportier' experience to shifts. It's a must have IMHO.

POST 6Original post

Oh how I wish I could afford to spec a new Turbo Pete :nooo: But it did come with the short shift and if it hadn't, I think I would have retro fitted one. See if you can get Dave to comment on the difference, as I believe he has recently had the short shift fitted to his 996 Turbo. Clive

POST 7Original post

Sporty - but I agree you can't rush things. I find engaging reverse requires a lot of arm to push the lever all the way to the left also (is this the shortshift causing this) - may have to remove it as my gf really struggles even with both hands.

POST 8Original post

Pat,I have put a 997 Short Shift Kit on my 996tt and love it. The throw is much shorter and more positive. It can be a little stiff putting it into 1st first thing in the morning but in my mind it was a few hundred pounds very well spent. :thumb: PS when are you next down Chavley way? :viking:

POST 9Original post

I've read that the standard (i.e. non-short shift) 997 shifter is a good improvement over the standard 996 unit. Throw isn't reduced a great deal (~10%) but is supposed to give a more positive shift, it's now on my list of winter projects.
