My lights have some type of adjusting feature on them because they dip and then adjust up when you first turn them on.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a sad encounter with the front end of an SUV that didn't line up with my 99 C2 cab. :-( Some cosmetic damage to the hood, bumper and headlight lenses (slight scratch) Since the headlight assembly was slightly damaged and insurance will pay to replace, can or should I (1) get the 00 headlight assembly with the clear lenses (and are they interchangeable with a 99)? (2) apply the price to a litronic set, and are they plug compatible with a 99? anyone know cost? is labor significantly different in install? Thanks for any advice

POST 2Original post

I upgraded my 99 to Litronics. I think the kit was around $1300 and another couple hundred to have them installed. Even the later build 99's came with clear lenses, so even if you don't go for Litronics you can get clear lenses. Karl

POST 3Original post

I also recently upgraded the normal headlights on my '99 to Litronics. It is a significant improvement so I'd recommend the change.

POST 4Original post

I'd vote for the Litronics. I did this conversion--you won't have the auto levelling feature but the lights are great. You'll need the "pin tool" to do this easily and to have the"lens shift" facility for high beam aiming. I think there is a thread on this board from John Felker several years ago detailing the procedure. Van

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How do they work without auto-leveling -- don't they need that feature? Thanks

POST 6Original post

The only thing I remember not getting when I did this upgrade was the headlight washers, which I believe comes standard when you order Litronics from the factory. My lights have some type of adjusting feature on them because they dip and then adjust up when you first turn them on. Karl
