Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm now thinking should I replace the box with an original part which is something I've always done in the past, I'm worried that with a stainless steel box I'll get more noise and resonance inside the car and lose the back pressure and quietness that you'd get from a heavier box?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 6Original post

hi there i had the same debate last year and ended up buying some secondhand but very servicable boxes from Daniel (thanks agian Daniel they were a great deal) the later 3.6 facelift boxes fit straight on (i cant remember if yours is a 3.4 or 3.6 in 2001) and these are quite expensive compared to the two replacements you mention (i was quoted £450 per box in jan) but they are available from breakers etc on ebay fairly regularly at around £100-200 per box in good condition also i found a few clips on youtube when i searched for 996 exhaust which give an idea of various sound levels from different systems also design 911 do replica original units made by dansk which look to be good quality cheers tim

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Tim, my car is a 3.4 I hadn't noticed the Dansk replica ones also stainless steel they seem a bit meatier I think they may be the ones to go for. Thanks again George :thumb:

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Call me old fashioned but I decided to have an original box fitted in the end, I was worried about the possibility of added noise in the car, got it fitted at HP Motorsports by Phil nice bloke Porsche specialists. :thumb:
