Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you look (either at other local dealers in CT, or by checking websites for dealers elsewhere in New England, NY or CT), you will find many availabe low milage '99-01 911's for sale still covered by warranty and probably qualifying for extended warranties under Porsche's certified pre-owned program.

There was an exhaust system change somewhere prior to '01 - your car may or may not have it - but it was a minor change.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all.
Looking at a 2000 996 coupe, Black/gray, 17k miles.
Options include:
-Sport Seats
-Special Rigid-tuned Chasis
-PSM
-18" Lt Alloys
-Aerokit
Looks and runs great, but will of course do an independent PPI should I go for it. 2 years on original warranty. FS via a dealer here in expensive New England.
Any thoughts/opinions on price and other issues on this model would be great; thanks.
Chris
Chris: Did you intend to tell us the asking price, or can we win something for closest guess?
If the aero kit is factory, informing us on the asking price will lead to a lot of "they're asking way too much" responses.
Sounds like a nice car.
Its an incredible Buyer's market for late MY 911s now due to the release of MY '02 and the current state of the economoy. The change was sudden and dramatic with prices seeming to fall between 10-20% (closer to 20%) from the prices just last March (of course, I was a buyer last March!). If you look (either at other local dealers in CT, or by checking websites for dealers elsewhere in New England, NY or CT), you will find many availabe low milage '99-01 911's for sale still covered by warranty and probably qualifying for extended warranties under Porsche's certified pre-owned program. The car you described can probably be had for something in the 50's (or maybe very low 60's if its the full factory Aerokit and you buy it from the dealer). Not bad for a car that retailed, (and probably sold) about 1 year ago for something over 70K.
No issues to speak of with the '00 MY 996 - that is a great car. There was an exhaust system change somewhere prior to '01 - your car may or may not have it - but it was a minor change.
Make sure 15,000 mile service was completed and check the tires for need of replacement.
My bank wouldn't touch an extended warranty. The dealer offered one at $2K for 6yr/60k miles by performance first. The insurance co. wanted $3k for a 5yr/50k miles for theirs. Pick your poison
