Suggestion

If I were in your situation I'd be checking if the brake fluid level had dropped (indicating a leak), I'd inspect the slave cylinder area for visible signs of a leak and I'd bleed the slave cylinder as the simplest things to do.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, I mentioned before that my short-shift is very heavy almost ruining the driving experience somewhat. I also mentioned that on a couple of occasions when moving in slow traffic I have depressed the clutch but the car has not disengaged gear and I have nearly hit the car in front. For the latter, it was suggested that I should look at the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Foolishly I didn't put the two together. So, now I believe the above are linked and that whatever is wrong with my clutch is someway responsible for the heavy shift. Does my 'lightbulb' moment make sense to you guys? Also, any ideas on the likely cost of the clutch slave cylinder (incl. labour)...? I don't think this will be covered in my warranty. This is one of a handful of probelms appearing so any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm beginning to think I've bought a lemon

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, Porscheshop sells a slave and master at a fairly less obcene price than I was fearing. So, before I ask, what should I be looking at for fitment of the above...? I've also been advised that it might just need 'bleedin'... Sorry to pester, but would really appreciate some pointers... :thumb:

POST 3Original post

If I were in your situation I'd be checking if the brake fluid level had dropped (indicating a leak), I'd inspect the slave cylinder area for visible signs of a leak and I'd bleed the slave cylinder as the simplest things to do. In my experience failed slave cylinders have always sprung a leak but I guess it's possible that one could begin to seize. If your not up for the hands on approach I'd suggest ringing a few of the independent workshops and asking how much labour they'd charge for a slave cylinder replacement (which would include bleeding the clutch hydraulics as part of the install). When you find one your happy with let them do a further diagnosis.
