I just replaced my t-stat and H20 pump this weekend (even overcoming that stupid bolt placement between the pulleys somehow), so I'm feeling confident......

The car has not been raced so I do not have any drag times but similar setups have ran mid-10s.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Starter makes a whirrring, or over-spinning sound on occasion. It seems to be random. It's not a teeth-grinder, as in when you keep the key engaged too long. No problem starting. It still sounds weird and wrong though. Anyone with ideas? Thanks in advance.

The time has come for me to list my 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for sale. This is your chance to acquire a sorted Z06 that had the heads addressed and buttoned up nicely. The only reason I am selling is to buy my first house.
It is a 2LZ Jet Stream Blue with 29,200 miles on it, with the competition gray wheel package and navigation. JSB was an extra 750 dollars and the rims were a 395 dollar upgrade, coming to an original MSRP of $76,940.00. I have the original window sticker on hand, as well as the title clean and clear.
I have every receipt on the car from the upgrades at ECS down to oil changes and tire balance.
There was never a lien on this car. The first owner was a gentleman from Florida and I flew down to pick her up and drive her home Feb 2014 from Lamborghini of Orlando. At the time of purchase it was equipped with:
20% window tint
Kooks Headers
Kooks X pipe
Halltec 103 Intake W/ Shroud
Nitto NT05 tires all around
Mild to Wild switch
Dyno Tuned
In April 2014 I dropped the car off at East Coast Supercharging (ECS) in Cream Ridge to do additional work.
WCCH Stage 2 heads W/ Polished Intake Valve, Stainless Exh Valved, Milled
Katech Torquer 110 Cam
PRC Dual Spring Kit + Titanium Retainers, Titanium Seats
Viton Valve Seals, Dual Springs
Katech Timing Chain C5R
MSD Wires + Plugs
Dyno Tuned: 539.8 WHP 512.2 WTQ (max HP @ 5978, max TQ @ 5023)
I also added a ZR1 Catback from a 2011 ZR1. It is a bit louder than the Z06 version and retains dual mode functionality. Sounds better than any exhaust I've ever heard on a Z06.
The car runs and drives beautifully. Recent maintenance includes:
4 R888 tires mounted and balanced on stock rims under 500 miles
Front rotors and pads: stock rotors and Bobcat 1571 Pads (street pads that are a little better than stock)
New Battery
New Starter
C6 Headlight Recall
Other Modifications:
LED Apsis Tails (Have stock tails)
APR Full Real Carbon Fiber Spoiler
LED interior accent lighting modification
6000K Fog Light HIDS
Smoked Turn Signals (vinyl; can be easily removed)
If there are any special picture requests let me know.
I can email any interested parties the Dyno Chart and/or original window sticker, as well as anything else of interest.

The car is located in northern NJ and I am willing to ship at buyers expense. I am confident the first person to see the car will buy it.
The car has not been raced so I do not have any drag times but similar setups have ran mid-10s.
I have an idle vid as well, PM me if you'd like the link. Also included is a shot of the bolster. I am a very light guy (160lb) so I haven't put much wear on the seat.
Asking: $47,450
Thank you for your time.

Sounds like the starter motor is spinning but the pinion gear is not engaging the flywheel. Could be a bad solenoid, starter starting to fail, usually requiring a new starter motor.
very nice car there Anton you'll miss her when she's gone. GLWS bro, i always like the JSB color and i ended up with a yellow one (Minion) color when i bought my 2nd 06 Z last month.

Thanks man
You are not the first, nor the last, to say that!
From the moment I first saw JSB in person I knew I had to get one. Luckily found this one in Florida and flew down to pick it up two days later.
Priorities change, I've put under 1500 miles on her over the last year.
Hope you are enjoying your Z, there's nothing quite like it
You didn't explain if this noise is after the starter is engaged or before, if before the solenoid is probably acting up. If this is happening after engagement the Bendix can get sticky, in this case you can remove the Starter and clean it up with some Brake cleaner and re-grease with Lithium grease, not an uncommon problem I just did this with my Sons Boxster and it cleared up the issue.

Thank you for your reply and advice. The sounds occurs After the starter has engaged and started the car. I will take your advice. I just replaced my t-stat and H20 pump this weekend (even overcoming that stupid bolt placement between the pulleys somehow), so I'm feeling confident......
Hi,
I have the exact same issue on my 2002 996. If you ever got to the bottom of this please let me know.
For those that are still looking into this with the same issue, I have noticed that if I leave the key in position 2? (the one that turns on all the electrics but does not start the car) for a few seconds longer it normally starts up OK, without the over-spinning screeching sound. So now I am thinking that it could be a relay issue. Any comments welcomed. Thanks.
I have the same issue. Starter going out is typically the issue. Lubing the output shaft is doable but relatively pointless as it is just a bandaid. Furthermore, this can draw an immense amount of battery power if starting a bunch in one day. I had this issue recently and killed my battery momentarily - not by starting or attempting to in one sitting either. It is by frequent starts. Anyway, replace the started....
Thanks Jay!
Bump for price drop:

Lots of local interest but I'm not selling for 40k sorry! A 2008 Z with heads and cam already done and tuned at ECS with all the papers with under 30k miles AND jsb is going to be hard to match at this price!
