Dropping a quick note and wanted to say hello and also thank you. I lurked on this forum for awhile while shopping for 987's and the wealth of knowledge helped tremendously in my purchase.
Looking forward to doing some basic wrenching on my 987 this weekend/week and working on a
Porsche
for the first time.
Thanks again!
Well done.
I'm only a short few months ahead of you, and yes, if you have a toolbox and some basic skills, these are amazing cars to work on yourself.
Welcome aboard

Congrats!
I just picked up a 987 as well a couple months ago. This has been a thought in the works since they came out
I finally pulled the trigger... or the other way around?
Amazing car and driving experience.... after having owned other sports cars, this is the one that encapsulates all of them. [emoji3577]

Great that you've finally pulled the trigger! I'm pretty sure that most wish that they did it sooner!
any specific plans for the car?
You need to fix the elastics on your soft top. See how the edge of the top overlaps the hard metal frame behind the passenger window?
It's pretty easy with a bit of sewing elastics and a stapler. There's a YT video out there of how to do it. This is very common as the stock elastics loose their stretch after a decade.
Good catch!
I had to do the same on mine recently.
YouTube is a 987 owners best friend.

congrats also. The elastics were the first thing I had to do with my 2010 BS 5 years ago. If you let them go, the fabric covering the cord embedded in top fabric frays and then it gets to be more of a problem. I went to a fabric shop and bought a strip of stronger elastic tape. Whole fix took less than an hour, and half of that was figuring it out without YouTube help. Still going strong today.
Congrats! Awesome car and endless fun.
3 years ago I purchased a 2006 boxster S with 21k . I check with this forum before I do anything on it. Saved money, time, and aggravation. Welcome.
Welcome. Just a few things, attached pdf, owners manual, CTEK MSX 5.0 w/comfort connect, FCP EURO and of course YT are your best friends! Enjoy the ride.
I made this video for new owners, might find some good info here.
There you go, I'm mambo, I mean subscriber no. 5
The more content and knowledge out there for new (and old) owners the better.
Cheers,
Julian
Oh, very cool, I forgot how to decode the first 2 digits of the date. Thanks!
