Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, After Lee assisted with the lighting quick sale of my previous car, i have sourced the engine, gearbox and chassis for the new build - so it’s now full steam ahead  (link below) A little unconventional I know, but the first order of business was to lock in the colour - Karminrot POR009 Before I get hazed, Lee agreed to link the build thread (rather than try and run on two forums) D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/985164-project-77-new-build.html

POST 3Original post

The colour is going to look great, and definitely stand out on the track

POST 4Original post

Agree looking forward to seeing this project unfold

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 244978, 244982

I liked the colour from the moment i saw it, especially with black wheel (good i have a few set of them) bonus is that (like yours) it should be unique... ill put up some updates and photos on PFA too. I might be technically ok on cars, but after also getting screwed over by photobucket I haven’t joined any other hosting service, so posting photos on forums from an iPad/iPhone sucks - happy to take any tips from you as the master of social media ! me too!

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 244940

I still kick meself for not selling mine to buy it ? The new one will be an awesome car knowing your attention to detail with the things that matter mate

POST 7Original post

You can post whatever you like on Facebook, and then just link to those pics. That is generally what I do now. Even if you just have a dummy account just for hosting. FB keeps them forever too

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 245008

Thanks, the “dummy” account sounds like the way to go. i dont do FB personally, but its ok for my car to have one... hows your engine going?

POST 10Original post

It will still be finished before @Pork Chops picks a colour though

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 245058

No possibly about it mate! ?

POST 14Original post

Just read the start of the journey, so organised DHE, and from all indications  you'll make it come together as quickly as possible. That's a great choice of colour and if it looks anything like this it'll be a stunner, with purpose!

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Glad I got the colour sorted first which is a relief! now i can focus on the mexhanical side of the build...

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 245075

Can ya have a chat with @Pork Chops about colours then Darien? PLEASE!! ?

POST 17Original post

Sounds like you are incredibly focused, been getting any sleep? hahaha

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 245073

Yep, thats the colour. Mine will be more of a 73RSR / meets 911R  style of body - and if it looks half as good as that IROC in rhe pic ill be happy!

POST 19Original post

Black wheels work a treat, and basically black seats as well?

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 245079, 245082

Given its in the US, not much! Lots of back and forth comms and planning. Done one trip already, about to go again.... Yep And no interior, just painted!

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some fresh updates on roll cage and rear suspension fabrication. Tyson Schmidt is managing the build, so couldnt be in better hands... (refer link at top of page) D

POST 23Original post

Should say I’m enjoying this. Good progress and of course there is a part of me that laments my turning away from an IROC build. Great colour choice too. But if your build is complete before I choose a colour I will be forever shamed so slows the hell down would you? Sorry to hear about your Dad too. Terrible outcome and to be there when it happened too....

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi PC, Was just having late lunch and saw your reply - glad your enjoying it. Im about 1-2 weeks behind with my posts so you are going to hate my next round of updates! Its progressing faster now with lots of parts arriving and the car is already at the body shop! I was originally targeting Bathurst at Easter, but lost time over Xmas and timelines would have been too tight once i allowed for shipping and customs. I didn’t want to ship without set up and testing in the US, so I’m now looking at a test day at Willow Springs with Jack Olsen in March. Our cars have quite a few similarities in suspension theory etc as Tyson also designed and built his car (BB2). Once back in Aus will aim to run at the PR test day at Wakefield on 4th May, before PCNSW sprint on the 5th. So, you have a head start but only until end March id say when the cars finished and ready for shipping... so you will need to hurry up! D PS: my car wont have a an IROC style body, its a long hood and more 73RSR styling with a little bit of 911R.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sharing what will likely be the best looking (and most functional) components on the car. These custom front struts and adjustable dampers with remote reservoirs were made by Motion Control Suspension (MCS) MCS from the US (not to be confused with MCA) is the evolution of JRZ and Moton with guys who formed those two companies getting together to make some latest suspension tech, and while they do road/race products for all the newer cars,  its pretty cool that they are offering these sort of custom components made from scratch for our G series cars... These are my new struts still in the box.... D

POST 26Original post

Like I mentioned about your old car (??), it's a shame some parts are hidden away Hangin to see this car mate

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 245308

Only fair to give you some notice @Pork Chops , painting the body Karminrot was meant to start this week, but i have given you an extra week or two as  i have decided to paint the frunk and engine bay while I’m at it.... ...so you have an extra two weeks to pick a colour. Glad i could help Welding up all the holes to make the firewall capable of doing its job!

POST 28Original post

^ the bad news is my car is actually finished and I’m just throwing the odd post out there to keep the masses entertained and in suspense. But good luck with finishing your project it looks like a rippa .

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Picked up a ducktiail and had it painted as well (easier to do it all now and bring back in one shipment).

POST 36Original post

Can they squeeze a ducktail for a 996 in the crate :-)

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can check, Is it ready to go?

POST 38Original post

Nah..was just a thought bubble.  have been looking at them from the UK so have not really looked at any from the US yet.

POST 39 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Getting closer, just fitting all the extra bits before testing this week...

POST 44Original post

Coming along really well Darien. Just read the whole thread on Pelican. Should be quite a thing. And it seems that we have quite separately fitted the same rockers. I like your style Mine is currently getting a birthday. Plan to be back at rally Adelaide. Hopefully see you then.

POST 45Original post

Ooh a Hargett shifter! Good choice, yet just incase, I would have a spare selector rod (that the gear lever attaches to) made up, as they're very weak in the centre. I just had one made for mine that broke far too easily Love the handbrake too. Are you planning on doing some drifting mate? ?

POST 46Original post

Would have loved a Hargett but they are currently unavailable. Went down the raised shift tunnel and rennshift option instead. Shifter position and static feel of the rennshift seems really good. Yet to actually drive it. Interested to hear what you think of the Hargett

POST 47Original post

Quotes source post: 270491

I emailed Dean Hargett about getting a new shift rod made, and he told me they're not making them anymore. I was hoping to have my car back this or next week to fit my Hargett, yet that's been put off by a couple of weeks now. I have test fitted it, And the gearknob sits about 150mm or less from the steering wheel, And it also requires either taking all the slack out of the handbrake cables, redesigning it like Dariens above, or don't use the handbrake! I'm going to see if I can lengthen the handbrake lever somehow

POST 48Original post

That’s no good re product support. So you are left to get your own fabricated? Hydraulic handbrake is possibly an alternative if integrating the cable one is problematic.

POST 49 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 270479

Did you get the A.I.R. winged rockers as well... saw the hydro go in, then the raised rear suspension mounts! Ill try and make time to for another look at your car at AMF. My car should be back by December, hopefully!!!

POST 50Original post

Quotes source post: 270524

Unfortunately yes, zero parts back up. Cost me $270 to have a small rod made by an engineering shop as the original was too thin to weld. They have beefed it up a bit, yet weren't very complimentary about the original design. If anyone has a Hargett, I would check for cracks on the selector rod that attaches to the gear lever

POST 51 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spend all of the day under and in the car doing final jobs before its first outing, just finished. Heading out to Willow Springs tomorrow to run it in... I bought mine “as new” and had never been used. Will let you know after a day at the track tomorrow.....

POST 52Original post

For those who haven't seen it and what to look for @DHE11 (though I know you're a smart bloke and would work it out)

POST 53Original post

Quotes source post: 270585

Yup, the exact same rockers. had never seen them before and then read your thread a spied them on your car as well. Have had mine skinned with carbon as I am trying to get them to tie in with the front lip, so top section red and winged section CF. have raised the shit tunnel as well. Doing all I can to fight the 1970 VW ergonomics Had heard some quality concerns with the Hargett, but nothing that cant be over come. Sounds like you are on to it Lee. Best of luck with the shakedown!!

POST 54 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Shakedown run at Willow Springs...

POST 55Original post

Quotes source post: 270595

Ergonomically speaking I find it can be quite beneficial to do this for a while. ?

POST 57Original post

Quotes source post: 270823

Hahaha. Hadn’t spotted that Freudian slip. Must be preparing myself for the final bill. Looks the business Darien. Hope it went well.

POST 58 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 270844

Was great to fire it up and give it a shakedown. New engine ran well and initial suspension set up feels good. Think I’ll be able to run this car softer than my old car and still get the performance. Initial impressions of LHD, once I was driving I barely noticed....Will probanly be more evident on a familiar circuit with close walls like Bathurst,  and everything is opposite.

Can't wait to see it at The Bend next time!

POST 61Original post

Somehow, I don't think your car will get lost at the docks.

POST 62Original post

I've just found this build and read the entire Pelican story.  Excellent write up, Darien.  It's a great looking thing and is sure to turn heads. The car went on the truck in October,  what's happened between Oct and now?

POST 63 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 278036

Not much.... The guy who is importing my car has his own import/US agent business, and Is bringing back a few old Dodge Chargers and Challengers in the same container. While he was waiting for my car to be finished, he decided to commence a long block rebuild on one of his cars. Now its my turn to wait while his engine is finished !!! He is a drag racer and has been doing this as a business for years so knows all the ins and outs of importing old cars from the US, and my car is coming direct with his in the same container, so should get the VIP treatment. Its worth waiting for.... This build has taught me i have even greater patience than I first thought. I gave up late 2018 predicting which month it would be ready, but can now safely say which year it will arrive (i hope ) D

POST 64Original post

Quotes source post: 277930

Did you wait for that specific time to post this Darien???

POST 65 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 278066

Sort of, now that its 2019 I can confidently say it will arrive this year..... 😉 Actually spoke to the guy doing my import today, and good news is the last car we were waiting on is now finished and heading to the LA warehouse, and all going to plan it should be loaded and on the sea in 3-4 weeks... I will miss the 1st club Motorsport event at Mallala on 17th Feb, so its first public appearance might end up being the PCSA show and shine on 24th March (not exactly what I had in mind,  so might have to look for a private track day in March) Then off to Bathurst for Easter ! 😁

POST 66Original post

Quotes source post: 278486

I think I have a car in the same shipment as you, I don't think late March is going to happen but you might be better at getting things moving than me.

POST 67 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did see you name on the email and guessed which car was yours.... im optimistic, but will need to wait and see....

POST 68Original post

I've been waiting since October, so optimism is in short supply here. He has done other cars for me previously, so I know it will happen eventually.

POST 69Original post

Quotes source post: 278054

Hi Darien Can you share your importers contact?  I’m been pondering 68 Chargers recently...

POST 70 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Graham Shiell from American Muscle Car Imports. He drag races a Dodge Challenger and is a good contact for Chargers, he actually brought back two Chargers in the container with my car !
