If not that lucky, then proceed to use an ezy out after giving the threads a good soaking in liquid wrench (penetrating oil).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Set about changing the front discs and pads today, all easy enough but while trying to undo the brake line bracket just behind the caliper the bolt head sheared off. :bonk: Has anone got any good tips / tricks on how to get remains of the bolt out so I can replace it. TB

POST 2Original post

Sorry to hear about your trouble. My general approach to this problem is as follows. Try to grind the remaining portion of the bolt flat so that you can accurately center punch it, drill a small pilot hole with a good new drill bit, then drill say a 6mm hole for an 8mm bolt with a new sharp left hand drill bit. Being left hand it may just cause the bolt to back out while the hole is being drilled. If not that lucky, then proceed to use an ezy out after giving the threads a good soaking in liquid wrench (penetrating oil).

POST 3Original post

Ditto OZ, Had something simular happen recently, what OZ says works a treat. Good luck and go slowly

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I know how to remove a bolt like that but because it is in an awkward position with very little room for a drill. I was hoping for a special trick to get it free, guess I'll have to do it the hard way. TB
