Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In my gray interior '03 986 the gray hand brake handle has discolored. Any recommendations for improving it? I would rather not have to replace it just because the handle has discolored. Many thanks, Ron

POST 2Original post

snap a photo and maybe we can suggest something, I know a few tricks.

I did both seats and the hand brake with colorplus about a year ago. It holds up very well and although there was a little work involved in doing it, it was a small investment compared to buying new seats and handbrake. I would recommend it - but make sure that you follow the instructions closely. Applying it evenly is difficult with a brush - I know some of the folks in here have air-brushed it on. There are some older posts on how to do it.

POST 5Original post

Ron, I used "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" on my steering wheel and e brake handle. Results were amazing. Not sure how, but it worked for me. No chemicals or cleansing agents to harm the interior. Pack of four sponges cost approx $4 at your local grocery.

Paul. Does that do damage to the leather? I used them on my last car and although the steering wheel was very clean.....it was very dull also. I guess the question is....should our steering wheels have a shiny finish or a dull looking appearance? Im talking a black steering wheel.

POST 7Original post

This might sound silly but I've had very good luck with leather shoe dye and shoe polish on my steering wheel and gear shifter. Wish I had before and after but to answer the obvious upcoming question, no, the dye and polish did not come off in my hand, just let it dry.
