Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I've just purchased a 2003 996 C4 which had all new discs and pads 2k miles ago. However, after washing the car the brake pad wear warning light comes on! for a couple of days and then goes off until the next time i wash it. I guess water is affecting the sensors as the pads still have plenty of meat on them. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

POST 2Original post

If there's plenty of 'meat' on the pads then don't worry. The sensors may have been reused from the last change and might have a slight crack in them. When water gets near them the circuit is connected and the warning goes on. Obviously when it's dry you won't see this but now they've been drenched you're getting the warning. Either replace with new sensors or keep and eye on the pads until next change... :thumb:
