This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Engine Special Offer Finally some GREAT news for paranoid 996 owners. As per above thread, now ALL replacement engines come with a FREE 996 (which you are at liberty to strip and sell on eBay, thus actually paying you to have your engine go BANG!).

POST 2Original post

:floor: GT4 It only helps you .1 people though. Us .2 fans will still have to wait for a couple of years. In the real world I obviously hope that the market for good condition, sensible mileage cars will stay buoyant but with stories like this one and the one with the bloke pondering over the private purchase of an '06 997 for £25k I'm starting to doubt it. After waiting for many years to get a 911 I'm starting to wish I'd waited two more!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, 997 for £25k and he waits weeks to ask a forum its advice. Remind me not to bother trying to sell him a genuine £10 note for a fiver.

I know its only a program but the other vichicles seemed to be the right sort of money. I take it 997 didnt take a nose dive a few years ago and now back up there? Darren

POST 5Original post

The last thing I would want to do is talk the market down. A Porsche is a Porsche and should (IMO) always be in demand. I think it's worth bearing in mind that the circumstances were pretty unique in this case. The seller is returning to live in South Africa and so wanted to get shot of the car in a relative hurry. The buyer knows the seller well so it was mate's rates. Also the car is pretty tatty cosmetically and will take a lot of effort to bring up to scratch. Wasn't there a thread a few days ago about the early 996 starting to look like a classic - perhaps it's time to buy now. I'll try and get some pictures off the offending car over the weekend and post them on the original thread.
