Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

Sounds like the tank is cracked. Even if the washer pipe fell off, water shouldn't exit (or only exit in drips) as it has to travel through the pump first.

POST 3Original post

I would have a look where the missus tipped the water first. Not suggesting that she's clueless and stupid.(like mine) Disclaimer Please note that this post does not infer that all females and/or wives are stupid and clueless and is merely a statement of fact that my particular wife who is in fact female is at times considered both of the above.

POST 4Original post

I hope your wife doesn't get to read this post, If she does I forsee troubled times ahead!!!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

has anyone got one of those excellent exploded drawing showing tank, pump and pipe routes, they could post? and yes i will check first where and what she topped up  thanks in advance Wkd1

Here you go: (exploded washer bottle diagram and parts list) Clickies for big versions: http://911uk.com/files/washer_bottle_517.jpg http://911uk.com/files/parts_list_washer_bottle_211.jpg

POST 7Original post

I had a problem with my washer system but a replacement part fixed it. Part number 21 in the above diagram came loose because the clip holding it in broke. If you want to check this on your car then just open the boot and remove the plastic battery cover which is a cover at the back of the boot area (two screws, just twist them 90 degrees). then maybe get the mrs to put the washer jets on to see if a leek occurs. Apparently this is a common fault. My opc gave me a free replacement part to fix it. Good luck finding the fault, I hope it's not a ruptured washer tank.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks, :worship: will look when i get back to the UK Wkd1

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

update, got back about half an hour ago, it is getting dark, but thought i would have a quick look, yes she had filled the right thing..... :hand: i topped it up, it didnt leak anywhere? pulled the covers off had a look, got her to fire the jets, its pouring out of the bracket (item 5) and running down the drain hole :? so maybe the pipe (item 17) has come off from the pump inside... or the gasket is shot? too dark to really see but, does that bracket come off from boot side? or is it a tank out from the wheel arch side? thanks in advance for any help? Wkd1

POST 10Original post

I'm sure if you take a look in the light I will be apparent what the problem is. Sounds like it will be a simple fix though which is positive.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

mmmmmmmmm not really any clearer in daylight... i'm maybe being stupid, but you know what its like, dont want to force something comes apart one way and i'm trying the wrong way... anyone got any advice... does item 5 pull away into the boot area, ie towards the battery... im off all today, so would like too sort this... thanks Wkd1

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i have a spare day today, so anyone got any advice? does that bracket pull away into the boot side? :?: i have managed to get a finger in and can feel that pipe 17 has come adrift.. but there is not enough room to get in there and put it back in place, with the black plastic part pulled out i think it would be easy... but have no idea how :dont know: to remove it.. help? Wkd1

POST 13Original post

Does your wife have a twin, if so I think I married her :?:

POST 14Original post

Hey - I've just had the same problem - washer fluid pouring out when I filled it up yesterday after I put the jets on. Did you get to the bottom of the issue with yours? What was it in the end and were you able to pull the tank out towards the battery?

POST 15Original post

If the water only comes out when you use the washers, it is probably the washer pipe coming astray, rather than a cracked tank. Remove wheel arch liner and pop back on using tie wrap (cable tie) or jubilee clip etc. A blob of glue (on the outside) may work too.
