Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use GT One in Chertsey now - just under 300 notes for a minor service.

Well they just phoned to say that the brake fluid needs changing but at 100 English I said I'd leave for now and pop it back in before Christmas!

I have asked them to change gearbox and front diff oil which they thought a little odd, but I have to say so far they have been great.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just thinking out loud really......my 996 C4 goes in to Porsche Solihull tomorrow for it's first OPC service in my ownership. I shall be interested to see what it's all about. They offereded discounted rates as it's from their 'Classic Range'. I can supply my own oil (Mobil 1) they were quite happy with that. I have asked them to change gearbox and front diff oil which they thought a little odd, but I have to say so far they have been great. If anyone is interested I'll post with post service comments?
Do tell us more about this "classic range"... Can you advise what the prices was before/after this... :dont know:
Just a note, take their "advisories" with a pinch of salt with the "essential" stuff being carried out by a reputable indy...
This way you can get the OPC "experiance" (stamp) and save on labour for the other costs...
Normal cars would pick up stuff like...
wipers... tyres....rms....non-porsche battery...etc etc
Are fellas i'm ready for them. One of their tech's have had a pre nose around the car and assured me that they do not play the 'Advisory' game.
The price is approx £315 minus me supplying oil, although I guess this will be made back up by the gearbox and diff oils. They have phoned me today to check everything is still on for tomorrow (which was nice!) I was told that Porsche have been missing a trick with the over 5 year old cars all being lost to indie's so have halved the labour rate for us oldunz to 70 English an hour.
I'll let you know tomorrow.....as they say whatch this space and lets hope my leg isn't lifted
Well it's all started off very nicely. Arrived and was greeted with a coffee.....which was nice
Was about to call a taxi when I was told there was no need a driver would bring me into work.....great service so far
as for the cost we will wait and see
I had mine done there as I thought that having an OPC stamp in the book would be better.
To be fair they did supply a Boxster courtesy car.
However: I was advised that I needed
a new pulley belt (so I had it done),
new wiper blades because they were smearing (I had just replaced them and the smearing was wax on the screen,
suggest aircon top up for £211.50 (no thanks, it's fine)
new tyres because the rears were down to 3.9mm and 3.8 mm.
I was charged £123.50 plus VAT for oil, including top-up that they didn't give me until I went back twice.
£548.13 for 12,000 mile service (thats what they called it, car had done 33K)
I will be using a good independent in the future.
I've found OPC Reading reasonably helpful; needed a new coolant tank as mine had split and they were pretty fair with a fixed price over the phone. I'm thinking of taking mine there for the biggie (96k+) as again they seem to off a good fixed price (listed Inc. VAT which many don't). Question is, is an OPC stamp worth an extra 90 quid? Also if you rock up in an old 996 they are a bit snooty...
BTW OPC Reading has a good parts dept. Super helpful and no more expensive than some reputable on line retailers.
[/i]2001 996 C2 Tip - totally stock as per the ident...
Well they just phoned to say that the brake fluid needs changing but at 100 English I said I'd leave for now and pop it back in before Christmas!
Which was nice.....
To answer one question on this thread, I was pleasantly suprised that they refer to my car as from their 'Classic Range'. Wilst looking for a car every indie I went too said "Oh your lookin for an old un". Popped into OPC Solihull and as much as I pressed they never mentioned the word 'Old' or 'Second Hand'. They were not at all snotty as you have experienced, if fact the opposite. They showed genuine interest for my car and seemed to appreciate that I was an enthusiast. Interstingly the fella who dropped me back said "Your the chap who's having gearbox and diff oil changed" I'm not sure anyone has asked for this in the past.... :?: The oils been in there for best part of 10 years so I recon that there have been some improvements in the last decade to oils in general so thought it worth a punt.
More later.....whatch this space (if you interested, that is)
GT4.... Not managed to get back to pick-up the car (very busy with work) however they phoned to say they would keep it in one of the inside bays over night for me.....and get this they will pop over to my shop and pick me up  As for the price I can't remember exactly what I was told on the phone but I think about 400 English. That's a inter Service, Oil change (I provided engine oil only) gear box and front diff oil change along with drive belt. I will post exact cost tomorrow when I pick it up. But I have to say so far that the service has been first class :thumb:
