Have just had front tyres renewed (Pirellis). Tyre Fitter had latest laser tracking alignment rig and a check was free so had the car checked. I knew there was some problem as the front O/S tyre was wearing on the inside edge. The alignment check showed that the front O/S wheel camber was slightly out of tolerance as was the tracking on both fronts. Problem - If I have the tracking adjusted (which I need to) the tyre place does not have a PS2 to recalibrate the steering sensor. As I live in the depths of Cornwall the nearest OPC at Exeter is some distance away. How much of an issue is the steering sensor within the PSM. The car is only used for road driving and not tracked. Will it make that much difference to everyday use? All advice appreciated :?:

I've had a problem with my steering angle sensor requiring recalibration. In the first few of hundred yards of travel, the PSM runs a diagnostics. If the wheel rotations tell the system that you are travelling in a straight line, but the Steering Angle Sensor is out, ie it tells the system that the steering is not in the straight ahead position, (or the information from these sensors disagrees) it 'faults' the PSM, the PSM and ABS is deactivated and the warning lights show up on the dashboard. During the time the SAS was out of calibration, I had the ABS operating during light braking, and the PSM randomly activating when least expected, particularly in wet road conditions. This was often the case before the PSM deactivated itself, but very occasionally happened when the PSM and ABS lights were on. Recalibrating the SAS sorted all this out and have had no problems since. If you experience similar symptoms, I would not recommend you drive the car any great distance.
