How many of you have ordered Full Leather? I had this option in my Boxster and never fully appreciated it until sitting in Porsches without it. I just love the look of the stitching down the center console and along the dash. I neglected to order Full Leather on my Feb-build Cayman S - too many options to begin with. However, after visiting the dealership this week and inspecting the 3 Caymans in the showroom - 2 without Full Leather and one with - I regret it.
I'll try and put together two pics that show the difference for those who haven't placed orders yet; sometimes it is difficult to find examples of the many Porsche options out there...
<div>I didn't think the full leather in the Cayman came with leather and stitching on the console or along the dash. I to love the look ofleather and the stitching that your talking about in the 911but I don't think that it is available in those areas ont ethe Cayman, correct me if I'm wrong please. </div>
<div>I test drove a caymanwith full leather in cocoa and but it didn't nothave leatherin those areas.</div>
Full leather comes w/ the stitching around the nav and auto climate. Also along the dash top of the dashand the seat, back of the seat, doors etc.. It's also a higher quality of leather. If you can order I highly recommend doing so, it makes a big difference in looks.
I ordered it on mine. It took a while and lots of looking at cars on the showroom floor to understand it. There is a fairly descript list of where the leather is with the full leather option under the two tone description for black and stone grey two tone leather in the option list emailed by the dealer.
As I understand it, it adds leather to the main dash top all across the dash, but not the sections at the bottom of the windshield and speaker grills. There is no stitching on the dash top like on the 911 due to the design of the dash. The option does have the gauge dome covered in leather with the stitching. It also adds leather and stitching on both vertical sides of the vertical intrument panel which houses the radio and heater controls. It also adds leather to some portions of the door panels but not all. There is nice stitching on the doors as well. Lots of guys have suggested that the seat backs are leather with the full leather option but I would check myself before I believed it. The reason I say that is that there is an option for something like $1,450 to cover the back of the sport seats in leather. That is a lot of money for that add, so much that I have doubts that Porsche would include it in the full leather option for the price they quote. It is typical for most if not all manufacturers today to finish seat sides and backs in high quality vinyl. I'm just guessing and don't know for sure.
I love the look of the leather with the fancy stitching so I added a few other pieces (not included) to the full leather option. I added door finishers, and the rear center console. It really brings the interior up a few notches, but they make you really want it for how much they charge.
