Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i accept this might be an odd one but.... had a service done 4,000 miles ago and since then the oil gauge has resolutely stayed fully lit. Prior to the service the car used around 1ltr every 1000 to 1500 miles. Nothing has changed in the type of driving i do nor the style (still making 'good' progress through traffic!!) I'm doing around 2-3000 miles a month so this is all in the last 6 weeks. should i be worried :?: Does any one know if the oil gauge display can or has a history of showing a full reading when in fact the oil is dropping? Is there any other way of checking the oil level ? any help greatly appreciated

POST 2Original post

Hi, do you know which oil they used for the service? Maybe it was slightly thicker and not burning / leaking as much. Another option is they could have overfilled it, in which case you are still using it but it hasn't come onto the scale yet. My indie always leaves it one bar below maximum, better that than overfill.
