Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have googled and cannot come up with the correct location of my ECU. 1999 996 C2 It has info on every other car. and I just don't know where mine would be behind the back seats as it's not removable. I'm sure this is an easy question for someone.

POST 2Original post

I'm trying to get my ecu flashed for my 99 c2 carrera but I have seem to have hit a wall. Apparently the 99 c2 model has a different ecu then the all the other models and the ecu flash is no longer available. I have tried Evoms motor sports and fab speed. Does any on here own a 99 c2 and had their ecu flashed? I'm ok with not doing the ecu flash if I can't. Just want to make sure I cover all my options.

Here it is an info from Shark Werks, hope that helps. https://www.sharkwerks.com/tech-articles/ecu-removal-installation-guide-for-coupe-996-997-turbo-carrera-s-gt2-gt3 Cheers

POST 4Original post

Not worth the price anyways unless you are trying to spoof the rear O2 sensors for catless headers which would get you no where in CA. Put the money towards a 02+ with variocam plus. World of low end difference. [I owned both 99 and 02]

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! I'll give it a try but my car doesn't have the subwoofer and behind my seat does not lift up. This is the EXACT article I found on Google.

POST 6Original post

Thanks B8_RDC can you please elaborate a little more on the mod?

POST 8Original post

It is a simple mod, you trade/sell your 1999 for a 2002+ 996 which has a larger 3.6L engine and also a smarter intake camshaft that has variable lift. The difference in the driving is night and day and I would ask you to go test drive a 2002-2005 996.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

99. Yeah, I read the article many times. I'll find it one day. Thanks again!
