Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check full set of manuals' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check full set of manuals' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The
Porsche
web site has the
Cayman
service manual available for download. It does cost but if your interested in doing things yourself the info should be in there.

I heard the
911
one was something like $8k for a one year subscription. With a new
Cayman
, I better not have to do anything but oil changes and air filters for the first few years. So, I think I'll pass on the $5,200 annual offer./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/door.gif
You know it would be a great thing if people here took the initiative to each buy a different item for $110 and then we could put them all in our library here for our members unless
Porsche
would get upset by that (I have a feeling they would). As an alternative what we could do is simply list who has which item and if you want to 'borrow' that item from the person who bought it you could contact them. That way we aren't hosting the files, just the information about an alternative source.
Any takers? I'll probably be getting the wiring diagram shortly for the
iPod
/ keyfob / alarm work by wilhemy IT.
Come on K-man why don't we just each buy a different DVD and swap them all around while we are at it. I learned from the MPAA that downloading a car is illegal.
Unfortunately the older
911
crowd and the 928 crowd have both tried posting workshop manuals, TSM'sand other factory publications and
Porsche
has successfully caused the web sites to be shut down. You can't even burn a CD with thepdf'sand sell them on ebay because they won't let you auctionit.a groupcouldget away with this if we do it underground and keepsilent, but there's no wayyoucould make the manuals available publicly.
Porsche
would squash you like a bug. You'd think they would leave us 'classic' owners alone, since we don't patronize dealerships for service, but I swear they must have their own secret police force scouring the internet for unauthorized sources of their tech info.

BTW, I was not suggesting anything illegal, I was suggesting setting up a library, much like your local public library where items are purchased and then loaned out and returned. The problem with systems like Napster is that they were never set up in this way. In other words if a manual was checked out, 1 and only 1 person could be using it and would have to electronically return it before someone else could.
Well, the library idea would be good, except that
Porsche
states that the data that you download is for personal use only. So, the yo-ho yo-ho a pirate's life for me isn't going to cut it ...
K-Man S: If you can figure out a way to do this legally, I'll be happy to purchase one of the books to donate to the library. I wonder if you could work out some sort of deal with them since these would be strictly for personal use.
I just went through the search tool and added up the cost to get each section individually. With all the tech and workshop manuals it looks like it adds up to about $1760.00. It's a far cry from $5200.00. This includes all the sections I wouldn't be interested in immediately like wiring and air con.
I'm willing to buy the Chassis workshop manual for the CaymanClub library. I've decided to buy them as I need them personally.
I just bought the Chassis manual (chapter 4). So far, I have two major complaints:
1. You can only print the manual in low print quality, and some of the text is not readable. Call me old fashioned, but when I'm working in the garage, I want my manual, not my laptop.
Porsche
should make clear that these manuals are only partially usable in printed form.
2. The brake disc thickness spec is not present (I know people have posted them and that they are stamped on the discs). The manual says that they are in "461000 Technical data/Brake wear limit", but that section is not in the manual. I did a search of all documents on the web site (using the search feature), and came up empty. This is not a show stopper, but quite irritating given the price.
I am happy that torque specs seem to be well covered.
Overall, I am reasonably happy with the manual. My complaints will probably not stop me from buying another one I have my eye on at some point.
I just took delivery of porschelibrarian's 2 CD
Cayman
literature collection, and it is indeed what it purports to be. It comes with full electrical diagrams and the parts ordering guide (which consists of many, many annotated exploded parts diagrams). In all it's 1.2GB of PDF's, and renders fine. It is in fact not meant to be printed out, and PAG puts warnings throughout to that effect.
workshop manuals
PAG may post that the pages are not ment to be printed out but I am sure that when you do print they print fine.
I have now added the 987/987C Diagnostic manuals to the CDs.
One note is that the person that estimated the purchase price from the Porsche Tech Site left out sales tax and I think Porsche has a dealership in every state so that would add about another $100 to the price plus the Technical Manuals, at another $110.00 each, which are the TSBs that are included on the CDs also.
Re: workshop manuals
Hi,
I don't yet have 5 posts so I can't PM you, sorry.
I see from the forum you can offer various Porsche manuals at better prices on CD/DVD ...
I have a 2008 Cayman and would like electrical and engine/driveline
Can you tell me what this would cost if they are available ?
Feel free to PM me or send email.
Thanks

It's not just the manuals.
Pelican Parts
spent a fair amount of time and money making
Porsche
's parts PDFs into clickable web graphics that allowed you to zoom in and in general click on the part you wanted and order it.
They had to remove it after getting a cease-and-desist from PCNA's lawyers.
+1. That is one thing I miss about owning a Corvette, the Helm's factory service manuals. Well-written, easy to follow, a couple of thousand bound printed pages, $120 for all three volumes. Sigh. Even if you didn't use them to work on the car, they were an awesome reference for learning about the car's systems.
If you check the full set of manuals for the
Cayenne
,
986
, or 996 were over $2,000 when they were available. And that doesn't include the updates, Techniks, and other manuals like the
OBDII
or the TSBs
I picked up the "101 Projects for your Boxter/
Cayman
" book from
Pelican Parts
. It's quite informative for most things, but anything else I'll have to either take it to the dealer, or have one of my techs use
AllData
to diganose, and repair it.
Hmm... What about these?
