I hadn't used the cable in a couple of months and when I plugged it in yesterday (with the new laptop) it did indeed download new firmware.

Hooked up my Durametric (enthusiast version) a couple weeks ago to reset the service reminder and again noticed that no VINs are listed on the Tool Information page. I bought my Durametric cable from another user and have hooked it up to my 07 Cayman multiple times, so I should see two VINs. I contacted Durametric for an explanation and they just said "good news, you can use it on three more vehicles!" This is obviously not causing me any heartburn as it seems the cable I have is not capturing VINs so should work on unlimited vehicles. Anyone else see that?

I was pretty sure mine was acting the same, but I plugged it in today just to check. To my surprise, same as you, no VINs logged. I got mine mid-2017. Maybe your's was from the same batch? If anybody in Vermont needs a service reminder reset, let me know

VINs are stored in the the cable (EEPROM or something similar), so the computer or app software wouldn't matter. Maybe interesting if the device firmware was the same or an update erased old VINs (maybe the memory address changed).

Interestingly enough, I had to change my laptop. I hadn't used the cable in a couple of months and when I plugged it in yesterday (with the new laptop) it did indeed download new firmware. But....I'm pretty sure on the old laptop it didn't log the VIN either.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
