Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Good point raised above as the n/s rear seat carpet is damp so likely a roof issue to be dealt with before a warm bum
Leading evidence: 'roof issue' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'roof issue' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). Suggestion
You could find a pair of good used seats with heating elements already fitted and swap yours out and sell your old ones.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello. I am considering get in back into a Porsche and am looking at a Targa
Did they ever come with electric/heated seats? They don't seem to ever have them and I think the heated seat switches would normally (coupe) go where the targa roof controls sit.
Has anyone got electrics in a targa or know if they can be fitted?
Thanks
There is space for 4 buttons on the 'batwing' above the gear shift... roof open/close, blind open/close and two heated seats.
No reason why you could not retrofit, but it would be quite expensive.
The targas generally came well specced, heated seats quite common.
I've only ever seen one Targa with the heated seat option. Would seem to be a no-brainer for those frosty open top mornings ... I tell the missus to just stick a hotwater bottle under her jacket :wack:
Theres a company that retro fits heated seats .. about £500 from memory .
Any Targa you look at then make sure the roof is in excellent condition as that will be more of a concern than the seats
Link i found after a search .. cant vouch for them though .

I retro fitted heated seats in my Targa, as you could in any 996 model. You could find a pair of good used seats with heating elements already fitted and swap yours out and sell your old ones. I think the wiring for the seat heating is already there in the loom under the seat?
Front glass frame tubes have split .. causes a drip onto the rear seats .. or rear drain tubes blocked and leaking down to the seat base .
frame seal and its about 5 hours labour plus parts .. £200 ish parts .
1hour if the roof is out .
rear tubes and again about an hour to clean them out .. not as easy as it seems .

I think I have passed on the car: I had it inspected (PorscheInspections) and it was more of a project car than the price would suggest. Lovely though it was - and the dealer offered to rectify some issues (eg dry the seat area remedy silencer box holes etc etc) in thw asking price but I think if it's a project, I'd rather have the fun shopping and knowing I got what was "right". They think they'll get close to asking price and did not accept my offer.
The mulling continues. Nice coupe for sale in Yorkshire (on here) but buggered if I am going all that way in this weather, esp as I'd prefer a targa!
Good Targas are not easy to find im afraid .. a friend of mine has spent almost 6 monthes looking for one .. each one needs work .
My only answer is to factor in the costs of the work needed when looking for one .
A Targa roof overhaul should only need doing once in the cars lifetime .
