Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Well, I had the dreaded Air Oil Separator fail on me. Big plume of smoke coming out the back. Ordered a new one for $70 and the Torx sockets to get it out. 60 minutes later (after waiting for 3 days for the part to show up) all is right in the world again. I cut open the AOS to see how bad it was on the inside. This is the original 12 year old AOS . It was bad and the diaphragm was split. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 2Original post

That's a mess! Let us know how the Uro part lasts. They don't have a good reputation.

POST 3Original post

Don’t tell me that about the URO part. I would hate to go through this again too soon. I looked them up and they seem to be hit and miss as far as quality. When I compared it to the OEM one, it felt identical. The only issue would be the internals but you can’t compare them without tearing them apart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 4Original post

What else did you replace? Bottom elbow hose? Other hose on top? Part numbers of hoses replaced? Thanks

POST 5Original post

Just replaced the AOS . No other parts. I did clean out the hoses to make sure that they didn't have any oil or the yellow gunk in them before I reinstalled. Have put on roughly 3,000 miles on this one and no problems yet. I can definitely notice a difference in the engine sound. Like the difference between when your head is plugged up with a cold and when you can breath out of your nose.

POST 6Original post

Did you use hose clamp pliers? I found the clamp at the base closest to the crankcase to be super difficult to reach. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

Meatful, I just used a set of channel lock pliers. It was tough to get in there. What I needed was a set of pliers that looked like this:

POST 8Original post

I replaced mine this afternoon.. What a pain. Had a replacement lower hose so just cut the old one out. Putting back was definitely easier and used a angled needle nose plier and hose clamp pliers like these for removal and installation:
