Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

AFTER DOING A BUNCH OF RESEARCH (AND NO WRENCHING) THE REAR PADS WERE WRONG FOR THE CAYMAN S. THE EBC WEB SITE ONLINE FITMENT CATALOG IS WRONG AS WELL AND THE ONLINE SUPPLIER CARRIED FORWARD THIS ERROR. WHAT IS AMAZING IS THAT BOTH EBC AND THE SUPPLIER LIST THE CORRECT PADS FOR THE 2008 BOXSTER S WHICH USES THE SAME PADS AS THE 2008 CAYMAN S. PADS ARE BEING RETURNED AND THE CORRECT PADS ACQUIRED. A couple of questions regarding EBC "red stuff" brake pad installation on a 2008 Cayman S. Below is a pic of the EBC front and rear pads (front-right, rear-left). Regarding the rear pads, note the two arms which are part of the backing plate extending upward from the pad material. My first question is: will the pad spring (3 1/2 inch wide) fit between the aforementioned arms on the rear pads? It appears that they will but confirmation from someone who has used these pads would be nice. Second question: Can anyone recommend a brake pad bedding procedure? These EBC pads have a "brake-in coating" on the pad surface. EBC states that "This mild abrasive coating is designed to de-glaze the rotor and assist in fast bed in of the new pads. Drive carefully for the first 50 miles.... After approximately 200 miles of urban driving using the brakes severely only in an emergency commence the final bed-in of the pads by decelerating from 60 mph to 20 mph at least 5 times.... ". Also FYI - also all rotors have .5 mm or less of wear and are very flat with no grooves whatsoever. Wear sensors have not gone off. Car is not tracked and is a daily driver. Thanks for your response.
