So i suppose my question is, is there any difference in spec/quality and amount of grease that would be used for the front and back of the car?

HI All. Car is in for a service just now, then contacted me to inform me the front right CV boot is loose, so requires 4 new clips and re-grease. the cost of the job seems to be a bit extreme, for what i would have thought would be a 5 minute job, to re-attach the boot, re-grease etc they are charging 200 dollars. when i checked back through my reciepts i remembered that the rear CV boot was replaced in Nov last year, yet the charge for the grease was half the cost. So i suppose my question is, is there any difference in spec/quality and amount of grease that would be used for the front and back of the car? i would have thought one small tube of grease would have been sufficient? as they are charging me double for the front of the car? i know it seems like a small amount of money to be worrying about, but on principle i feel they are taking the P**S. Any thoughts?

Are we talking about a Cayman? No CV joints in the front of the car. The other models with all wheel drive would.

Is your cayman four wheel drive? I know mine isn't, and there is no CV joint up in the front. The purpose of a CV joint is to allow the drive shaft (or axle shaft) to articulate while the suspension moves. A cayman doesn't come with one, ever.
