Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

'07 2.7 Cayman with halogens. I had to replace my right side headlight assembly and it seems to have a different pattern than the left. When covering each light and looking at a wall, the left has the notch in the cutoff where the left side of the pattern is lower/closer to the car down the road. The right has a funny peak in the middle and no real drop in the pattern on the left. Does anyone know if the patterns are the same or different? Thanks, C.

POST 2Original post

I know what you are talking about and the patterns on my 06 CS are also different. the reason why they are different is so you don't blind on coming traffic. I would not worry about it. if you look at some pictures that have been posted on this forum with regards to updating halogen to HID you will see the patterns you are mentioning.

POST 3Original post

'07 Cayman with halogens. I'm bumping this back up because I'm really stuck here. The body shop that repaired my RF headlight is far away and I would like to do more homework first. I popped out my RF light module and looked inside. I have a lot of experience here as I have been fighting a HID kit and been inside both lights many times. I had an "incident" and smashed my RF and it was replaced by a highly qualified indy body shop that does a lot of Porsche work. Alignment seems to be good but my RF has a completely different pattern than the LF. Could I have the wrong part number RF headlight meant for HID? The cutoff shield on the RF is very different than the LF. Should it be? I thought my old light was the same as the left. As you backed further away from a wall, the cutoff notches became aligned and it all made sense (for oncoming traffic). This new RF does not make sense and my down-road lighting is terrible. Any ideas? Thanks, C.

I would drive to a dealer and compare with other Caymans.
