If the problem is caused by the exhaust then yes it would invalidate the warranty, and I think I would need to discuss with the OPC as some seem more sympathetic than others to bits being changed Maybe mine will be more forgiving as they are mucking me around (fat chance!).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All I am in the process of buying a really nicely spec'd GTS from an OPC and they have today sent me details of the over revs. About half way down the report (between ignition in Rev range 2 & 3) it says M120_Misfire counter for every ignition 3307 Does anyone have any idea what this code means and whether I should be concerned? OPC says they have serviced the car and it is running within normal parameters with no fault codes. It has passed the inspection and will come with 2 year porsche warranty. For information the report shows 360 ignitions in Rev range 1 and no incursions in any of the other ranges. Car is very low mileage (5k) and with fantastic options including carbon fibre bucket seats, alcantara with extended leather, Auto dimming mirrors and rain sensors, Bose, Clear tail lights, PCM with Nav, B-tooth and I-pod connection, Park Assist, Rear Seats, Colour coded side skirts, front and rear spoiler lip etc. Sport Chrono, And Sports shifter. These cars seem to be holding their money (read - hope I haven't overpaid!) and with this spec, mileage and condition I think will be hard to find elsewhere. I want to go into this with my eyes wide open so any pointers or help would be gratefully received. Thanks a lot.

The OPC have said The misfire counter is info correlated by the control unit and is only monitored info. The way the info is gathered changes on VALS and the form it is stored so it cannot be manipulated (hence the misfire counter is in the middle of the over rev info). There are no fault codes so the engine is running within it normal parameters. Which doesn't mean anything to me - lol!

POST 8Original post

IMIA said: get it bought rapidly. not many with that spec and any rr activity below level 4 irrelevant It's relevant because, as you probably know, OPC won't renew warranty with hits in RR3 or above without further investigation. With RR1 hits only this car is fine. Never heard of the other issue before.

With RR1 hits only this car is fine. Never heard of the other issue before. well thats changed. It was only RR 5 two years ago for warranty renewal. Then RR 4 last year. Interesting they've moved it to RR3 as they tried to use this as excuse to not honour a warranty claim i had as my car suffered rr 1,2,3 just before its engine let go. 9e advised me the rr were as a result of the liner melting but Porsche argued otherwise

POST 10Original post

Could a failing/failed coil pack cause the misfires? If so it's not really a worry, 3,000 ignitions is 1,000 revolutions of the engine, so not many seconds of misfiriness in the scheme of things.

And a lot less time if being driven. Doesn't seem so bad when you explain it that way. Thanks for your input Goose.

Hi Stewy - yes this was the OPC Swindon car. Wasn't actually planning on buying, but once I saw it realised I couldn't pass it by with that spec and mileage. I hope you find your ideal one soon - they seem to be great cars. Hi TheGoose - have rung a specialist and they are of the opinion that even things like trying to start the car on a flat battery can cause the misfires which are then logged in the ECU. Car was owned by a collector so this is possible. Their feeling from them was if it has been serviced and passes Porsche criteria for warranty then they would have no concerns with this. Think I now need to start to get excited about Saturday!!

Could it be it was out of fuel and someone tried cranking it? Or perhaps if a plug lead was off or something for a short time during a service? As its only a few thousand reports I wouldn't worry too much. If it launches itself you will be covered.

POST 19Original post

Pics seconded! Have a great day on Saturday collecting it. I can remember collecting my GTS from 911 Virgin and the exciting build up to 'the day'! Sounds a lovely spec car and sure you'll love it. One upgrade you need to consider is the Sharkwerks rear silencer bypass to give it a proper 911 soundtrack as the 997.2 PSE is simply too quiet. Lots of GTS owners have gone down this route. Enjoy!

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well Guys, Friday was the happy day and I finally collected my GTS. As I was waiting so long I decided to get Justin at Exclusive Car Care to detail the car. He visited it at the OPC showroom and we agreed a 2-stage polish and to then finish it with Gtechnic Crystal Seurm for a long lasting shine. He did a fantastic job and all I can say is WOW the car looks better than new. No swirls on the paint and a flawless finish with some seriously gleaming wheels. 200 miles in so far and I'm loving it. The manual gearbox change is so crisp and the engine so free revving. The car seems slower with PSE switched on, but maybe thats just me? Anyway a few more runs and I'll hopefully know more about this. Does anyone else with PSE have any thoughts or comments? Anyway, spec and the all important pictures. White GTS 2011, 4,800 miles Carbon Fibre backed bucket seats Sports Short Shift Sports chrono plus Colour coded side skirts and front/rear splitters Clear tail lights Auto dimming rear view mirrors with rain sensor Parking sensors Rear seats (daughter is very happy already after not being able to travel in my Cayman) Extended leather to dash and doors and extended alcantara Porsche logo on storage lid PCM 3 (with full postcode upgrade) Bose Bluetooth iPod/Aux connectivity Grey top tint Full 4-year service and 2 years Porsche warranty. One thing I dislike generally are the chrome headlight washers. I've just bought some new covers from Porsche. They're only about £15 each and come finished in primer. Had them back from the paint shop on Friday (a freebie!), and will fit them this week sometime. A very cheap update. Did mine in Carrara to match the body but gloss black would suit it too - even more so on yours with the black wheels. Just a thought

Protect the painted area of the bumper cover with a cloth and clamp the black plastic nozzle which is now exposed below the nozzle cover. The nozzle cover clips into place at two points so you'll need a small flat head screwdriver to unclip. Then just pop on the new painted cover.

Regarding the exhaust, I can't say it feels slower with PSE switched to loud. Feels exactly the same on mine. Lovely looking car, by the way. And I can recommend the SharkWerks bypass. It really improves the overall experience. Plenty of reviews and info in here about them. In quiet mode it sounds almost identical to stock. With PSE switched on it sounds glorious. Jack
