Evening all
Just wondered if I would be impressed with the optional upgrade of the sports button retrofit with improved throttle response. My local dealer says it's £695 all in and takes 1hr to fit the button and setup the ecu.
Worth the money for a small
Porsche
upgrade do you think? I have manual transmission?
Cheers
Russ
My understanding of what this does is it essentially shortens the pedal travel needed to get a response. I actually turn it on each time I drive the car. It helps me to blip the throttle on downshifts more easily. It kinda has the effect of taking up the slack to get back on the gas when going to the
next
gear. It also makes the engine seem more eager to go.
Worth around $1000 USD? Maybe.
I only drive with Sport mode on. I wish it can stay on on even when I start the car. I love it!
One way to have the sport mode on all the time is with the Softronic flash. Just tell Scott you want it that way.
Absolutely worth it, especially at the track or on spirited drives
(edit: just realized you have a standard transmission. I haven't compared those)
Sprint Booster
does the same thing for $300
There is no way I would pay so much for a sport button when you can get a
Sprint Booster
for a third of the cost and none of the warranty worries of flashing your
DME
.
If you search, you will find many happy
sprint booster
customers.
I purchased a
sprint booster
and have been loving it. If I had money to burn... I would still get the
Sprint Booster
and use the extra money for gas!
I purchased the sport button from
Suncoast
and had it installed by my local dealership. Worth every penny to me. Just gives much better throttle response. Interesting that my engine had to learn to respond. It took several times driving before I felt that the engine did what it was supposed to.
I opted against the
Sprint Booster
because I didnt want some wire coming out the back of my pedal that I had to snake up to a convenient place to have it hang. Personal choice.
The
porsche
version is more expensive but looks professional, is an official
porsche
part and I figure adds a buck or 2 to my tradein value.
My $0.02
BTW, The
Sprint Booster
only changes the throttle sensitivity, the Sport button changes that and a whole wad of other stuff
.
Hi Russ, who is your local OPC? Price seems reasonable, I'm still waiting for my local OPC to get back to me regarding Bluetooth module for
CDR-30
. Might be time to change OPC!!!
Russ,
If its any help I Went for the option when I order my manual CS and dont regret it at all. I don't use it all the time but is fun to use when the mood takes: in a way gives you two cars.
I made a mistake in my hurry to order a CR that had to be finalized in only a few days by not getting sport chrono with
PDK
... a big oversight according to almost everyone here. So, thanks to help here, I found the retro-fit sport chrono (sans dash wart)... it costs more (total will probably be about $1500-1600, depending on installation, vs $960 with the order). Took a while to get the dealer up to speed on this item (seems most of the dealers aren't familiar with this optional add-on) but it's ordered and should be here for the dealer to install when the car arrives in couple weeks. With
PDK
, it adds Sport and Sport+ buttons, including
launch
control and greatly improved auto mode rev limits. I imagine not such a big deal if you drive in "manual" mode using paddle shifters, but it does also kick in later PSM intervention for more fun. I really enjoyed an Audi TT with paddle shifters and when I heard
Porsche
was going to have this option I knew I'd get it on my
next
Porsche
. I always had a smile on my face with my '06 CS, and the CR is bound to increase the width of that smile!!!
