This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Just picked up a used 2006 Cayman S and had a question about integrating my IPhone . I have read number of posts about different modules (Denison/NAVTV) to gain iphone control etc but all I am concerned about is having a simple line out and I DON’T want an FM modulator. My car has navigation with Bose audio ( PCM 2.1??) Would swapping the CD Changer for this conector from EBAY achieve what I am looking for? PORSCHE iPOD MP3 3.5MM AUX INPUT CABLE BECKER - eBay (item 200446864638 end time Jan-29-11 11:41:04 PST) Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I don't think so. The CD changer runs on the MOST optical bus. But I'd wait for a second opinion before writing it off completely. The headphone jack typically isn't the best way to get a connection to a line input anyway. An adapter that breaks out the line out on the cable connection is better.

POST 3Original post

Swap the head unit and get a dedicated iPhone jack that comes (or is an available option) with the aftermarket units. The CDR-24 is a tin box.

POST 4Original post

That unit works with the OLDER style CDR-220 stereos used in the Previous generation Boxster and Carrera . Works great but NOT compatible at all with the CDR-24.

POST 5Original post

If you have PCM , do yourself a favor and put in the Dension. Email me with any questions: [email removed] You can gain iPod, USB, Aux in, and Bluetooth with one main integration unit.

POST 6Original post

Eric, I assume installing a Dension requires getting rid of the CD changer? Does the Dension permit me to control the iPod from the PCM ?

POST 7Original post

I am not sure I understand your objective regarding the level of control of the iPhone , play it through the CDR or control it from the CDR. If you want a good signal from the iPhone into the aux jack only, you can get a iPhone dock port connector to a 3.5mm stereo jack cable for the AUX port. This gives you good audio out, using the head phone jack is not the way to go, as that yields poor quality sound. A dock to 3.5mm cable does not permit controlling the iPhone from the CDR, but those cables are about $10.00. You can even get one that includes a usb connector so you can plug into a cigarette adapter and charge the unit will using it (about $15.00). if you want to control the phone from the radio, you should look at other options such as the Denison. 09 Gen 2 CS
