I tried changing the glove box light, but after the new light was installed, the light slowly died, now the light doesn't turn on, the car doesn't chirp when locking when glove box is open,

It sounds like the switch that detects whether the glovebox is open or closed is bad/broken. If the switch thought the box was closed all the time, even when open, then the light wouldn't light and the chirp wouldn't chirp.

Chances are it's a broken or disconnected terminal. That switch is a normally closed switch. Closing the door opens the circuit. So would a disconnected or broken terminal. Snoop around. Do you have a circuit tester or test light?

i just tested the glove box light with a tester it the bulb and the cable works fine. so i am guessing its a broken switch? is it this part number? can anyone check? 99761265100 it cost around 80 usd. a bit expensive.
