Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I hope this question is appropriate for this group. Just got a 2005 Boxster (wife's car!) and it is wonderful with a couple of exceptions as always. One that is bothersome is that the middle position of the interior light switch is supposed to dim the interior lights (dome and footwell) after 30 seconds or something like that if the car is left unlocked. In this car they never dim at all. Half an hour later I checked on the lights and they are still on. The light switch is definitely in the center position. Clicking it to the off position turns the lights off. Clicking it to the on position produces a perceptible flicker of the lights so the switch appears to be operating. Of course it's possible that the switch is somehow in "on" mode in both center and on positions. Question is: what component in the car controls the timer delay? Is it the "Porsche Control Unit" for lock/unlock and alarm function? Or maybe the dome light/switch unit itself or maybe related circuitry around there with the Home Link stuff? I can't wait for the service manuals to become available for these cars!
