a tiny little bit of static when the T505 is placed in console stash under hvac and ride control stack, clean when placed on visor.

Motorola T505 is different from the other FM transmitter, its high power output give much better connection, means less change channel and the audio quality is better.

If you dont want to spend more than 100.00 bucks you might want to consider an FM modulator that connects between your radio and antenna then run your ipod cable to your center console.

Two+ hours of music-only use didn't budge the battery life indicator on my fully charged gen1 iphone, this leads me to believe the Sony bluetooth is very efficient.

The the motorola will work alone as a hand free device for your iphone or use its build in FM transmitter to send the stereo signal (songs) to your car stereo, Motorola T505 even tell you which channel is the best for the reception.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello guys,
I can imagine this question is somewhere answer, but here it goes.
I just got a Cayman S 08 model with Factory Navigation, everything is great, just one thing missing.
The Ipod hook up.
What is the cheapest way for me to hook up the ipod so I could control it through the factory install Navi?
Thanks in advance
D
i just got that in the mail - everything works great except it would only send signal to my left speakers, so i'm going to return it...
i really like the design too...
I'm still reading about this.
since I have the bluetooth installed maybe a solution would be to transfer my itunes music to my blackberry bold.
I'm researching how this could work!, I really don't want to spend another 1000 bucks in a ipod integration.

That's what I use to connect my iphone to my car now. And I believe this is the best at cheapest way. Sony Bluetooth transmitter model TMRBT8ip and a Motorola T505 hand free. Plug the little sony transmitter (dime size) into your ipod or iphone which allow you transmit your iphone or ipod's music library to your motorola T505 via bluetooth technology through the line out. The the motorola will work alone as a hand free device for your iphone or use its build in FM transmitter to send the stereo signal (songs) to your car stereo, Motorola T505 even tell you which channel is the best for the reception. Both unit is tiny and the battery life is long lasting. I mount my iphone on the center dash, and it is thousand time better than any head unit I saw. It is a GPS (check out XGPS from youtube), Pandora, audio video player, photo frame, Web browser, MSN, Skype, Email, Calculator, youtube and of course a phone. Or you can just simply keep your phone in your pocket, it will connect automatically.
They cost around $80.00 together and you can find it at amazon.com.
I almost not picking the PCM, Bluetooth and universal audio options for my new Cayman S. It costs $4.5K all together.
If you have a regular phone like SE or blackberry, you just need the motorola t505 alone.
I hope this help.
For about 500.00 bucks you can install the Dension Gateway which will give you the best sound. If you dont want to spend more than 100.00 bucks you might want to consider an FM modulator that connects between your radio and antenna then run your ipod cable to your center console. Just a thought.

Just got this setup for my '06 today. I'm pretty amazed how quickly paired and played to FM; right out of box - tap a couple buttons and you're good to go. Works pretty darn good! a tiny little bit of static when the T505 is placed in console stash under hvac and ride control stack, clean when placed on visor. Im impressed so far... 20min of use in Sf Bay Area - where every wavelength is saturated.
Playing hookie from work tomorrow to snap pix - Rolex GrandAm friday practice at Laguna Seca; 220mile roundtrip down&up the coast. Should be a nice test. I'll report back.
Motorola T505 is different from the other FM transmitter, its high power output give much better connection, means less change channel and the audio quality is better. I rate it acceptable sound quality.
The only thing I don't like is I can't keep my iphone charging when in use with the Sony plug in. But if I don't play with the phone like use gps or stream internet radio which require the 3g connection all the time. I can have 5 hours mp3 play back without charge which is more than enough.
Anyway, Apple is releasing firmware version 3.0 for iphone very soon, which will activate the iphone's built in 2adp bluetooth function. By that time, the Sony transmitter is no longer needed. You can always charge and play with the phone at the same time.
enjoy.
I got the Dension Gateway 500 from Bumperplugs on one of their group buys. It is the best sounding option in my opinion and you can control the I-Pod on my PCM module radio controls. The dealer charged me 1.5 hours for labor. Plus Bumperplugs were an amazing vendor to deal with!
My understanding is that (my) gen1 iphone isnt a2dp capable, so the sony bluetooth will still have a home with us. 5hrs playtime between iphone charges sounds quite reasonable.
Im sure some folks have more discerning ears than me and I reckon wire-free modulators deserve scrutiny, considering their poor performance track record, but I think you're right...This little T505 has a little more refinement an power than others
Thanks for the tips.
The TMRBT8ip + T505 works pretty good. I used it an hour+ each way on my trip to and from Laguna Seca.
I guess the best description I have would be it's like listening to your own radio station that has a strong signal. Most of the time you have unfettered very clean reception, with occassions of modest static. The unit supresses interferece very well and is only over powered when you enter a very strong footprint, requiring a freq. re-assignment ...this happened once as I approached Santa Cruz on the way down, and once again as I hit skyline in Santa Cruz mountains (SfBay footprint) on return. It was a simple matter of tapping a button, waiting 1-5 seconds for a charming
english accented
spoken frequency identification. I didn't find this annoying, but some may.
The very modest static gives it an analog flavor, again...like listening to your favorite station; pulling in strong. Many audiophiles I suspect would probably want something more...I'm comfortable reserving HiFi for distraction free, home listening.
I'd characterize the quality of reception as good to very good, or adequate to more than; whatever that means...
a viable alternative
? I'd say most definitely. Being so easy to use, flexiblility of application (piped it through a boombox while washing my CS yesterday
), portablity and modest price; its appealing from many perspectives. It's a clean setup and implementation.
Two+ hours of music-only use didn't budge the battery life indicator on my fully charged gen1 iphone, this leads me to believe the Sony bluetooth is very efficient.
Cheers to Cayman S 2009 for pointing this happy 'bit of kit' out!

I have an '08 Cayman, with Bose audio system with no navigation system. Contacted Bose and they recommended Crutchfield FM modulator for the I-Pod. Does anyone have a recommendation regarding FM modulators?
"sweat equity" being key word, spent three days "searching" there is not one system that anyone will say works with pcm 2.1 and delivers bluetooth phone and streaming music correctly.

Dension is by far the best option with most features for the money, but there are other options. I'd avoid fm modulation. Dension, Mobridge, NavTV offer direct to the loop integration, streaming bluetooth music/calls, etc. We prefer Dension for a number of reasons, but all three offer options for PCM based vehicles w/telephone buttons. Dension also has an iPod solution for CDR vehicles as well.

I just bought 2008 CS with Nav. and Bose. Doesn't have auxiliary port
or Bluetooth. I just had a consultation with a local audio specialist to whom
I was referred by the porsche dealer. He suggested Mobridge and will be getting
a price shortly. I'll let you know what he says. Robstnr

I have the mObridge addition in my 987.1 Boxster S w/Nav and Bose too. It's been in my car for the last few years and without any problems. I had the iPod hookup wired into the armrest cubby, and the microphone attached to the back of the rear-view mirror.
