Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I'm currently installing a horn button in a friend's Cayman, he wants to drive it on the street and a horn is required. He has a racing steering wheel and quick-release, which makes it difficult to use the regular horn components in the steering column. I put a momentary button in the center control panel but am having difficulty finding info. online on what two wires I need to solder into. I had thought it was the two brown wires from THIS connector (below, photo courtesy of a Rennlister) but when I jumper them, no horn. I've checked the fuse (F3, column A) and I'm all finished except for figuring out the two wires I need to tap into. Thanks for any assistance you can offer, I've searched and read at least 30 posts between RL and P9. :wall: Moderators, if I've posted in the wrong location, please move to appropriate location on discussion forums, I'm thinking this may not be "electronics".

POST 2Original post

Can't help directly, but I can offer something that MAY help (or not). I swapped a stock '09 wheel for a stock '11 wheel and after doing so, the horn went inoperative. I had to go into Durametric and tell it I have a multi-function wheel and then the horn would work. I wonder if the car had a multi-function wheel before and now you're trying to put in a simple switch, which won't work. Or the other way, the multi-function wheel does something more simply than the standard wheel? At any rate, it is possible that it is just a simple programming issue that can be addressed with the Durametric Pro version, or the dealer. Or...you're not on the right wires, which I don't know anything about. Too bad Porsche doesn't provide full wiring schematics. I had that for my previous car and it was great.
