I bit the bullet today and ordered the parts for the new Audio/Nav system.
Kenwood DNX 610 - DVD-AM/FM-NAV - Blue Tooth
I-Pod, Aux, USB extension
XM Radio
Back up camera
Extra 12v utility outlet
Hardwire for Passport 9500ix
Total cost w/ install $2000
Parts should be in soon and I'll pop in photos when installed.
Good luck with that. It will be interesting to hear back after the install. There have been so many going the aftermarket route who expect the Cayman to be transformed into a "living room" listening environment that we never hear from again after the mod probably because it did not meet unrealistic expectations. Hope your results are what you expect. I have a back up camera on my new Audi wagon but it isn't much used. Also have the I-Pod/I-phone connection but because of its SAT radio I've not used it more than a couple of times. It all sounded good but in day to day use it is just "fluff". I do wish for SAt radio in the Cayman and will add that soon. So I'm hoping you get the hoped for utility for your money. Let us know.
Not looking for living room sound, frankly the sound quality ofthe CDR-30 isn't bad. I just couldn't stand the user interface of the CDR-30 and the Blue Tooth was awkward to load in numbers.
I have a back-up Camera in me IS-250 and use it all the time. I've found it very handy. I will also have the option to activate it while moving forward which may be of assistance when passing.
Very interested to see how this goes. I don't see an amp in that list. Do you have the stock audio or sound package plus?
Sound Package Plus, and we'll be using the Porsche Amp
I have a Cayman S with the Bose sound system, which sucks. I can't find an aftermarket replacement for it. Is the CDR 30 the same as the Bose? If so, how did your upgrade go?
I believe there are other problems with the Bose system because of the fibre optic setup. Try searching the forum for more info.
I think there was a string that offered a work around - if I recall similar to what I'm planning using the stock speakers and amp to maintain the fibre optic link and replacing the front end- not sure though
what do the connectors on the back of this badboy look like? do you think you could retrofit it into a 987.1?
