I just picked up an 09 CS (pics soon) and it has the CDR-30 with mobile phone setup. According to Porsche the iphone is supported. However, when I try to set it up I keep getting a message that there was an error setting it up. I never get to the point where you receive numbers to enter into the phone.
anyone had success with this?
not familiar w/ i-phone but had problems setting my phone up.
Dealer was willing to help, but figured it out w/ my 18yr old first.
We did it backwards, having the phone find the car.
Set the phone to open/discoverable/visible whatever they call it on i-phone. The car needs to see thephone to discover it and link up
From what I gather on another string, the phone book will not transfer.
I posted on this some time ago. I have an 09 with CDR-30 and an iPhone. You can not download your contacts to the car from the iPhone. Only phones that have a Vcard option. Dealer also confirmed this.
I have been challenged by this issue. Had expected full integration, but found out after pick up that it wouldnt do it. Not best pleased.
My new Samsung has the vCard option and it still won't download the contacts. I'm working with a tech at AT&T and we will try some other phones to see if they will download. Also inquiring into service department for assistance....maybe Porsche has a software upgrade for the CDR-30.
My car is a week old today and a new phone as well. I'm probably shouting in a hurricane, but am going to give it my best yell. Very disappointed in the Bluetooth software......the listing of compatible phones is old on the Porsche website, and includes iPhone, Blackberry, and a few others.
Someone should develop an APP for that...
Yes and it should be Porsche/VW. Here we have one of the largest, if not the largest, automobile conglomerate on the Planet and they can't offer a decent software program for this application. Ford has their Sync system developed by Microsoft and it seems to work well. My guess is soon we'll have a mandated hands-free cell phone law while behind the wheel.....and this is why I was really wanting this option and now that I have it, I want it to work.
SYNC does work better, but it still has some issues. Remember it is Microsoft, so there are a lot of glitches and they don't interface completely with Apple products. I have SYNC in both my other vehicles. It is nice, but not all it should be...for example when you answer your phone via bluetooth, the system switches from direct audio from your iPhone to bluetooth media. The only way to stop this is to turn off bluetooth and turn it back on again. This happens everytime you use the phone, so SYNC isn't perfect either. But then again, the whole system costs less than $500 so there you go.
I think I looked into this about a month ago and Apple does not
support OBEX/OPP in their bluetooth stack so I don't think you
can write an app for it unless you can get access to the underlying
bluetooth hardware and write your own bluetooth drivers.
It's a waiting game to see if one of their forthcoming software
releases will include support for this.
I actually did figure it out although it would be nice if you could add contacts. I can't believe it wasn't figured out in advance. Especially since the cars with PCM have an input labeled ipod. I am certain that Porsche was aware of the existence of the iphone when this was being developed. I also can't believe that the CDR-30 doesn't know what track is being played on a cd or on the iphone when it is plugged into the aux jack other than track 1,2,3, etc.
This was my work around. I went aftermarket.
