Hell All,
I recently upgraded the CDR-24 stereo in my 07 Cayman to a PCM II stereo and Nav system. I did most of the installation myself thanks to the 2 excellent articles written by K-Man S providing step by step installation instructions. Thanks K-Man S I couldn't have done it without you.
My problem is with the forward luggage compartment light. I had to remove the large trim panel that houses the trunk light to gain access to the Bose amp and to install the Nav DVD drive. When I reinstalled that trim panel and reconnected the electrical power connector to the trunk light, the light came on. So far so good. A few minutes later I noticed that the light had gone out but figured that the light was on a timer of some kind and thought nothing more about it. That was 2 weeks ago and the light has not come back on since.
I have a battery charger connected directly to the battery and I run the power cord out the front of the trunk. The power cord doesn't allow me to close the trunk lid fully.
(I've already run a thread about where to place the battery charger and how the power cord should be routed, please, let's not go off on a tangent rehashing that).
I bought 2 replacement light modules from Pelican Parts and tried plugging each of the 2 new light modules into the power supply. The light still doesn't come on.
I connected a multi meter to the power connector (see attached photo) and as you can see in the photo there is electrical power at the connector. With power at the connector I can't figure out why the light isn't coming on when it's plugged in. I would appreciate any suggestions that you fellow readers can provide. Thanks in advance.
There is an interior switch that controls that light. Could it just be turned off?
I've found the answer to my own posted question. Writing about the problem in this thread caused me to think about elements of the problem that I hadn't considered before.
There is a timer that turns the trunk light off after a preset interval. The timer is reset when the trunk lid is
fully
closed. Running the power cord for my battery charger out through the front of the trunk prevented me from closing the trunk lid all the way, thus the timer didn't reset. I momentarily removed the battery charger power cord and closed the trunk lid completely, then reopened the trunk lid and voilà, the trunk light came on again.
