Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2001 Boxster Can anyone tell me what this part is? I have a leak here. See highlighted area in pic. It's the part right under the alternator left bottom bolt. The part is held in place with 5/6 screws. Not sure if it's hydraulic fluid or coolant. Thanks, Sonny

POST 2Original post

do you have a leak there or do you have oil there. Two different things and a picture of your actual motor would help...especially in identifying the substance and source...

POST 3Original post

someone else posted a pic of that a while ago ,they broke the bracket r+r ing the alt. i believe its part of the cooling system

POST 4Original post

The area you're identifying is a cover for the engine coolant circuit. You'll want to get it repaired right away. Before the repair you might consider capturing whatever coolant the system might lose, it's re-usable. And don't neglect to replace the gasket!
