POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good afternoon, I am looking to get into a GT3 RS Weissach at some point in the near future as a keeper and it will be used most days. The cars on the market at present don’t seem to be shifting, maybe the JZM car the exception but there is now a similar, same mileage car appeared at Chester OPC but whether they are the same car who knows. The overs still seem excessive and as much as I would like to purchase one of the nearly new cars available at list I can’t see that happening for a while, so just doing some homework at present. Reason for the post, I would be interested to hear from any owners who could give me there opinions on the ownership and usage of the car, as it would be good to get direct information from people who drive these on a regular basis rather than the Internet reviews which are probably based on a few hours driving the car. I hope someone can spare a few minutes to share there experiences, and please pm me if you prefer not to comment on the forum.

POST 2Original post

What exactly do you want to know beyond what you’ve already seen?

POST 3Original post

Like most buyers you probably want one with 100 or so miles on the clock ...........so not so much advice to be gleaned . To get one at list with 100 miles may be more complex but then who knows right now ... I used mine a lot with nearly 10 k miles so worthless , but it was a lot of fun

Thanks for the reply, having used 996 GT2 as a daily I was just looking to see if they were also usable on a daily basis. There are so many with very few miles on I was wondering if they were too uncompromising on the road, your mileage seems to answer that question. Can I ask how highly you rated it?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again, was just going to ask the same question regarding the 997 to 991, as I started out set on the 997 but have been favouring the 991 lately. No extended test drives are going to be available in either so all comments on driving experiences are much appreciated.

Best one for a true opinion on this is Yellow as he has had both and a handy wheelman .... The difference is progress , I think the PDK in the new RS is the highlight but others feel it is a step back from manual . Progess happens and I like the manual H paternities of the 993 GT2 R but the new cars are more effective and refined . I think Yellow has enjoyed his move from the 997 RS to a Weisach RS ..

I’m 7k km in on mine so a little more than 100miles on the clock... It is very easy to live with and I have been doing the essentials run every other day in it. The mag wheels are vital imo though so make sure you look out for a car with these on. I have a winter set of normal wheels and back to back the mags really aid the ride quality. It’s hard to believe by how much. 4kg a corner doesn't seem like much but it sure makes a diff. I wouldn’t, but you could daily the car if you needed to. The hardest part is getting in and out of the seats and that’s not really hard at all.. Budget for a new exhaust also as it transforms the experience.

POST 13Original post

The - what if, can if, only if, conversations are good value..... I'm 3.5k into ownership and in my mind it's a fabulous everyday usable car especially with the magnesium wheels and PCCB combination. Ultimately, at the end of the the day you get what you pay for - best of luck and more importantly enjoy!!

POST 14Original post

I tripled the mileage on my 3RS WP the other day with a 40 mil trip to the shops, I guess it's worthless now It is like my .1 with everything refined. And I've done around 15k in my .1! The only thing I don't like is the noise (or lack thereof), so during lockdown I've not bothered driving it much which is a shame. I also didn't spec the mag wheels because I was going to abuse it on track for a while, and my local roads are also awful. Oh and I preferred the looks, and the 8k in my pocket....prescient perhaps. Edit: To clarify I live in a super rural area, the trip was a bit less than 40 miles and didn't actually include any detour or unnecessary driving! Amazing discussion... I pick up my cars from the factory normally and in the first three weeks will have 6500km on them with a bunch of track days. Don't care about what car it is. In the end I want the experience of thrashing my cars. No exceptions. . will get my next 992RS that way. I always thought the things were for driving hard. Probably an illusion on my part. Still, not an investor so we are all different.

I am surprised at the exhaust note comments,as its quite noisey between 6 to 9 inside, and the need to get on track days and stay on! They are deff for driving, its a car the needs driving, and all this mileage nonsense,i have sorned mine for now,not worth the risk in my area,3 harley,s got taken away yesterday,no tax or mot etc, police pretty hot on any fast driving at the mo.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Appreciate all the comments. It will be for using, putting miles on it is what I am buying it for as there are a number of road trips in the UK I wish to do and also some European trips once we get back to some sort of normality.

Ignore what I posted yesterday. He has sold his GT3RS last month. He indicated that he got 220K for it. So, good news for WS owners as that is still strong money. He is getting a new Turbo s as his fast daily driver. So maybe that is a good option for you, apparently this new Turbo is a lot more taught and track orientated. He will track it, so it will be interesting to see what times he gets.

Imo one would be crazy to pay that much for a WP car when none WP cars can be had for £165k All and I mean ALL the performance and ride comfort are with the mag wheels. So £165k on a normal 991.2 RS, £7k on some BBS fi-r wheels And go visit Manthey for some choose mods. They will release their 991.2 RS MR any day now. WP cars while amazing Are imho just WAY too much money atm. Posers cars at these prices, ie the latest and greatest. But NoT the wise buy if you like driving and value for money. I would take a non ppf car every time and treat it to some choice upgrades and try and remove 150lbs at the same time, imo quite doable. Battery Seats Removal side muffler and swap to ti manafolds and exhaust. Manthey pads Ohlins TXX shocks Manthey new aero kit. Remove all tools tat and a bit of carpet which is just for show. Serious car for still less than a WP car and far faster.

You can do all the above on a WP car, in fact i've already ordered an Antigravity 40Ah battery for my RS to save 14Kg..I also intend to fit either an Inconel or Titanium back box to lose another 15Kg..I was all set on JCR however i've found other British exhaust makers who equally good a job for less money even with Inconel.. I'm aiming for a target 1400kg weight for my RS when finished and then i'll keep it forever..

I also used to run a 996 GT2 as a daily and track car. With regard to running a WP 3RS as a daily based on my experience they are about the same as running a GT3.2pdk, or Gen 1RS, they only thing I would say with the WP one is to take extra care with the Mag wheels, if you kerb or damage one it will most likely need replacing and whist they have come down in price they are still very expensive, and take care with the Cup 2s in low temps and standing water. Looking forward to get back on track next month in my WP 3RS.

Wp car with ceramics and mags etc 1450. . Mag Wheels save 12Kg ish About 14kg on PCCB. lets say 20 kg on the side muffler, but we did not add back in the PPF weight, offsetting the saving I bet other wise they would make a thing of it. roof 0.5 kg Arb and links 5.3 kg ti cage ? 12 kg. carpet trim etc 0.5 kg Porsche state 29kg WP saving most of that is the cage, wheels and the ARB + links the rest is fluff. I think the 150kg is VERY wish full thinking. 330 lbs. cars hold what 55kg fuel...~? then you have options like lift, the LED's and BOSE which are a tad weighty so you have to look at like for like spec those 3 must be 20kg. like for like you have to stick with Porsche 29kg I would say. even washer fluid is 7lbs !!!! yes if you weigh a WP car with no fuel or options. Then a RS loaded with options fully wet and Steels you will see 125 kg in difference.

POST 64Original post

The new hydraulic lift weighs about 4kg compared to 8kg for the previous gen pneumatic lift..Ti cage and Mags save about 24kg combined..BOSE weighs less than 2kg extra and the LEDs about 7kg.. The new RS WP with GPFs has a 10Kg lighter exhaust..All other spec being similar an RS WP with PCCBs and Mags should weigh 58Kg less than a first gen 991.2GT3 RS on Steels.

POST 65Original post

My WP was weighed at manthey at 1426. Im pretty sure without wheels but full of fuel. The mags are pretty close to 100kg all in with Cup 2's. They are 4kg a corner lighter than standard with PS4S. No not referring to you,i have seen a pic of the scales at manthey, with no wheels on and i would say with driver weight and full tank. You don’t normally set up with a full tank of fuel, two thirds,as not many run around a track or road with a full fuel load,i will ask chris why he does that.

Yellow491 said: You don’t normally set up with a full tank of fuel, two thirds,as not many run around a track or road with a full fuel load,i will ask chris why he does that. Yep, really important to get the geo so exactly spot on such that fuel load matters that much for a road car used for random track days to get that last hundredth of a second that can win you a race.....

POST 75Original post

Spyder75 said: If your referring to me... manthey ask you to show up with full fuel, exactly the same as center gravity do. One of your points though.. I can’t remember if that had driver weight in or not... 82kg. No ones ever asked me for full fuel for a geo that would be daft and only be correct for 5 yards of track ! And I have been to CofG 3 or 4 times. I normally don’t even go 3/4 like most ask, as I never seem to have a full tank so I have mine geo 1/2 full and 72kg of weight on the driver seat. I am never full on arrivals due to getting there, then you do at least 10 laps steady and 2 bleed down of tyres, so you are just over 1/2 a tank then for some fast laps with the car feeling perfect. then it’s lunch and I refill the car. Again after dinner you do a few sighters and tyre check, ready for a few fast laps in the after noon 3/4 full till just about empty. So I would never corner weight or geo a car with more than 60% full tank. Fastest laps are normally about 3pm when you settled in and you have less than 1/2 a tank left, so you want the car to feel 100% with you for then. IMHO of course. As for weight my target is 3000lbs (1360kg) in 2021 with 1/2 tank fuel and no driver on my GT3. Not sure what it weighs now, it does have BOSe , LED and lift, but I think I can get 250lbs out of it over winter. My cars already lighter than a RS WP today so be fun to finish it off next year. I hate heavy cars and don't want more power, just better feel and faster change of direction, hence my CUP race LCA's which gives so much more feedback. I have owned a number of fast heavy cars and I just don’t gel with the weight of them. Much prefer the feeling of my past Lotus and my modded 987.2 Spyder (sub 1250kg). 992's getting a bit fat, you cannot hide it esp on Uk B roads. You start to feel weight at about 40kg saving I find, in the Spyder 70kg is night and day difference to the drive, braking and change of direction. Edited by Porsche911R on Wednesday 17th June 19:56

If you are going to all that effort of kg corner weighting ,expense etc, then the ideal is set the car around a average you would use, nowt to do with racing the plus point is how the car works when wet/greasy conditions, which can make all the difference. 911 front toe can change from toe in to toe out while nailing the brakes with a heavy fuel load, its important in a 911 to get it right i find.
