Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It gave me something to do on a boring rainy day plus while I had the wheels off the front I thoroughly cleaned the wheel wells and rims of both fronts.

I am guessing you have not noticed any change with the brakes performance unless you have been on the track alot ?

ducts for the summer and use the stock ones during winter, just with the extra 'snow/slush gathering' area cut off, just leaving the part protecting the wishbone?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was on the fence about getting the brake ducts - it's unclear their effectiveness. But since I found a great deal on them (less than $15 for the pair + shipping), I decided to take the plunge...
They showed up a week later and will put them on the car this weekend.
For anyone interested, you can get them from Pelican parts.
Some have asked about the part numbers... I have for L & R:.

Disclaimer: Just because many owners got these to install on Boxsters and Caymans, I make no guarantee these parts will fit your car.
I looked under my
Spyder
quickly the other day to see what it had, It has some, but I do not know if they are the same size as the
GT3
- I'll take a better look and get the part# to see if they are the same. If they are smaller, then I'll grab the
GT3
versions.
Thanks!
I did a set after my first track day. I had fade on the stock pads and boiled the fluid. Second track day, same track but just new fluid and ducts no fade. I know the fluid had a large part of it but I believe the ducts helped too. Like someone else said - it's a cheap mod with zero downside.
I have them on mine, one of the cheapest mods you can ever do.
However, I swear that it blows even more brake dust on my wheels now due to the better airflow... :hilarious:
I had the car jacked up today so I took a few photos of the
GT3
ducts installed.
We're looking for the front of the car:
Duct under the passenger wheel:
Thanks!
A related question came to mind: I wonder if it would be a good idea to completely remove the ducts for the winter? I was thinking that it might be less beneficial to have a duct directing snow and slush towards the brakes and into the wheel during winter!
Then again the plastic duct seems to be shielding the metal wishbone, so I guess that kind of DIY could have adverse effects... Maybe get
GT3
ducts for the summer and use the stock ones during winter, just with the extra 'snow/slush gathering' area cut off, just leaving the part protecting the wishbone?
Got mine from the local
Porsche
dealer, Sonnen, for $6.75 each and had them installed with my brake changeout to Big Reds. Tracked at Infineon two days later and can't say they made any difference but the Big Reds and rotors sure did.
Picked up 5 sets of the ducts when I was back in Holland for myself and friends as they were a fraction of the price the local dealer wanted....which was $140 per piece!!! I kid you not!!
Already fitted them on a
Carrera
S, and will do mine sometime this week along with Goodridge brake lines and a change to
Motul
RBF600, which I also picked up in Holland, and for half the price of the local market!
Anyone take a closer look to see if the
GT3
brake ducts are actually larger than the stock ones. I have a 2007
Boxster S
and the
Boxster S
ones are a bit more square but actually look larger. The
GT3
ones are narrower but more curved. Anyone else notice this?
Porsche
now calls these "link spoilers" and they are still made in Austria. I bought them from my local
Porsche
dealer and saved quite a bit over ordering them on line from whoever. They were $3.40 each with my PCA discount, total with tax: $7.21. I figured for that price why not. Will there be any benefit for me? I think it is doubtful I would notice anything significant since I don't track my car. So why do it? I figured for that price why not. It gave me something to do on a boring rainy day plus while I had the wheels off the front I thoroughly cleaned the wheel wells and rims of both fronts. Install was a little tedious but not that difficult. They are a little smaller and you can easily see the obvious difference in how it will direct air more effectively to the brakes. They are also smaller than the stock pieces so you might save a few grams too ;-) Attached a pic of the original so you can compare to the pics of the new pieces in the original poster pics.
