Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Probably the most tedious job was fitting everything into the headlight housing, in the end I had only one positive lead hanging out to be connected, it was a clean install but a bit of a pain.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

, this worked for years, never a problem (I removed the kit when I traded in the car).
Hi Guys- I bought an
LED
kid from the LEDMafia guy in Germany to try. The trunk/frunk lights pop right out, 5 second job.
..How do I remove the door lights and the dome light? Also the license plate light housings look fragile too...Id rather figure it out before hand then busting all this stuff in the process.
Thanks
The door ones also just pop out, just use something flat to get under the posterior side of them and wedge them out. They are the same for the lights above the engine bay
...feels like im gonna crack the ones on the door just prying on the backside of them. Still no clue about the dome...looks like the license plate lights are enclosed and the whole housing gets replaced. Gonna look at the
suncoast
kit just to compare.
I did all mine in no time.
the ones in the footwell we hardest,I had to bend the little metal tabs so I can slide the lense an put an
led
one in.the license plate were easy ,just don't be forceful, take you time.you will love it when your done.
Thanks guys...the trick was definetly having the right size flathead to pop the lights out without messing up the plastic. Best $28 Ive spent on the car
I just installed mine few days ago from the same guy. I got the kit of 8 so I didn't have 2 for the trunk and frunk.
I agree, it's the best $ 28 spent. Wonder how
Porsche
didn't include this on a $50k car.
Now tg red only thing it bothers me are the halogen headlight and projectors. Wish it was something simple as this for that.
Agreed...I'm also stuck with the halogen
headlights
. I was spoiled with the '10 I originally ordered that had the bidirectional xenons...totally unnecessary but so cool to watch them in action. Might be looking into this
next
, as I'm running out of things I want to do the car
Hi Rittmeister,
Did you buy the lights off eBay, or directly from
LED
Mafia? I have a 2006CS that I would like to retrofit. Googled
LED
Mafia and did not see a dedicated website for them in search results.
Thanks, PL
Hi Papa Lima- actually found them on eBay by just searching "
Led
987", sellers name is
LED
Mafia and came recommended after kboustani gave them a try. Easy to swap and great quality for the $!
I had a 2006
Boxster
and put HID lights in, it is certainly doable but I did have to overcome a few problems first. My kit was older so it did not play well with the CanBus signals, eventually I had to run dedicated power from the
battery
and it's own switch to operate the
headlights
, this worked for years, never a problem (I removed the kit when I traded in the car). The only pain was every time the car was started the computer would post a dipped beam out warning for both sides that would appear in the dash display. Probably the most tedious job was fitting everything into the headlight housing, in the end I had only one positive lead hanging out to be connected, it was a clean install but a bit of a pain. (the
next
car was ordered with Bi-Xeon)
Today there must be kits that take all of this into account, should be a lot more straight forward now...
Once my BGTS arrives, I will be looking at the
LED
kit for the interior lights, this car didn't come with it and that option was not available outside of a very expensive package.
Suncoast
had the kit for $89 I believe.
Installed the 8 bulb set from
led
-mafia off ebay. Mine came with 6 "small" ones and two "buss" type of lights. The two "buss" ones go up in the frunk and in the back. Easy to swap. The other 6 were a bit of a mystery. I put one in each door, one behind each seat, and that left me with two bulbs but locations for 5 more. I put the other two in the foot wells. I tried them in the overhead area, but felt the foot well location looked better. I ordered another set in order to put two in the overhead and I'll need one more for the glove compartment light. So, I guess I'll have a few extras. Pretty nifty.
I misread the original post and ordered a set from a seller in the UK. Eleven piece set for 20UK Pounds. Anyway installed fine but if anything they are too bright! These ones were the super bright and included ones for the visor lights. Could probably do surgery in the car now...haha
Oh right, the visor lights...forgot about those. I'll have enough to burn retinas with them. May (or may not) do the visor and dome if I think it is just too dang bright. The glove box, front, and rear lights are a must. I like the door lights too.
...not sure about swapping the visor lights (like bofus said, you'd probably blind yourself) but everything else is easy and not intensely bright, even the dome...the standard halogen bulbs look more like 'mood lighting' in a nice restaurant, the
LEDS
allow you to actually see stuff. I didn't get to appreciate them until I got to a hotel late at night on Sunday, and had to collect all my items from the couple hundred mile drive from Houston to Dallas. I had "forgotten" they were there, and when I started digging around for stuff, I immediately thought to myself "wow, its nice and bright in here.. I can ACUTALLY see". IMHO, its absolutely worth the $30 and an hour of your time.
Ok, you've sold me.
What do you think of this kit?

Is it similar to what you received from the mafia dude?
They look about the same.i like the one I got from
led
mafia because it is made in Germany and shipped from Germany and made for my car.i was worried about error light warning so I felt good about the product.if you go on eBay and search ,

LED lights
under quarter windows. Looks much better in person.
Housing for the footwell lights? They just pop apart and you can put in the same bulbs. I did the glovebox light tonight, much better. If you do the footwell lights, you'll get a bunch of dots on the floor instead of an even light. I think it is probably worth it, the dots are "interesting". Biggest bonus is the bonnet and trunk light, personally. Should have come with it that way.
How does one get to the lights in the sun visor? I'm unclear where to pry to get them apart.
+1 Bofus...I wasn't a huge fan of the spotted footwell lights at first, but the housings pop right out. Doing all the lights takes no more than an hour, and updates the car soooo much. I have not figured out the vanities either, but since I never use them I really don't care.
the
next
project for me is getting H7/8/9
LEDs
for the fogs and
headlights
(I'm stuck with Halogens). At least they gave all 987.2s
LED
tail lamps lol
No worries, just adding the information for those with
981
's trying to add
LED
lighting. It would seem that
Porsche
has taken a little step backwards with the removal of these lights, or possibly in their mind forward as to make it now an option! $$$
On you
987.2
up and around the mount of the rear view mirror, is there a 'horseshoe' shaped light? I thought on my 2006
Boxster
it had this, definitely not there now on the
981
, just 2 separate map lights.
...don't they love to gouge us on options
I'm suprised we get any lights w/o paying extra. I don't remember what the map light was like on my
986
, but on the
987.2
it's a clear plastic square lense with 4 little tabs and a single bulb. After doing the swap, the lense flew out every time I shut the latch for the top. A couple tiny dabs of glue fixed that.
